1969 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 280 SL Pagoda - Unrestored Origional Description:
1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL (Pagoda)V.I.N. 11304412005066 | The title is clear.I have owned this Gorgeous 280 SL since 2013. The car has been garaged these past 4 years, first in CA & now in AZ. I purchased it from a friend, a Mercedes specialist. The prior owner from Colorado had owned & garaged the car for an unknown period of time. He replaced chrome trim, rubber window seals and miscellaneous interior items. A Sansui stereo with speakers was added; originally it had no radio. The car has had a nice re-painting, otherwise, it appears to be an unrestored original vehicle. I replaced the battery shortly after purchase and maintain the battery with a battery-tender. The car starts easily, and runs well.According to the Data Card from ClassicPartsMBusa this car is a USA version, not a “grey-market” (European model) 280 SL, & as such, it has all the US mandated safety features that were required at the time of import. USA vehicles are generally considered more valuable than their "grey market" counterparts. The exterior & interior remain “original” (exterior color originally white with black mbtex interior) see Data Card. However, the car originally had a “pastel grey” hard top, (it currently has a white, matching hard top). The car is equipped with power steering, English instruments & a Left side-view mirror. It was also equipped with paint-coat preservation, & had a “radio delete” (no radio) but was equipped with radio interference suppression. The glass is heat insulated. The original tires were whitewalls. 4spd Auto Trans - with very positive shifting. The Engine number 130 983 12 003181 & Chassis number 113 044 12 005066 are correct, The engine and chassis numbers match the Data Card. See the Mercedes data card and the engine block photo with correct number. The mileage noted on the odometer is: 40963 miles. The odometer has only a 5-digit capability, so it will turn over each 99,999 miles back to zero. All gauges appear original. The car has been well cared for and appears to be a “low mileage” car. The hoses appear to be the "original hoses with original clamps". I have replaced one heater hose, yet I purchased a complete hose set & a new timing chain (difficult-to-find items). These parts, both tops, black canvas convertible & white hard top plus car cover, 280 SL owner’s manual & ceiling-mountable hoist for removal of the hard top will all be included with sale.I have driven the car less than 500 miles in the past 4 years & have thoroughly enjoyed it. (I own several other antique cars Too!
