1984 Mercedes-Benz 300TD TD Description:

Well cared for 1984 Mercedes 300 TD. Original Interior in great condition with only a few cracks in the upholstery and the dash. The headliner is in good shape as are the seats, controls and interior door panels. Along with rebuilding the engine I have done a great deal of mechanical work in the past three years that I have owned the car. See the list below at the bottom.
The car drives very well. It is fast and comfortable on long trips as well as easy to maneuver in the city and in and out of tight parking spaces due to the great turning circle on the car. I just got married and my wife is 5'-1" and does not like driving the car. So the car goes! There is some mechanical and body work-rust -repairs that will need to be done. Here is what I have done with the car
-Bought four extra bunt chrome rims and four Hankook Snow tires so the car has snow tires all around for winter months. These are195/ 70R14 Hankook Winter i*Pike RS W41 Snows and well reviewed by Consumer Reports. Great stopping distances in cold weather when the multi season radials get hard and stop working so well.
-Had the engine rebuilt. This was a $5,000 job. All the seals, and rings etc were replaced.
-Replaced the front and rear disc brakes,starter, the alternator and the battery
-Replaced the rear accumulator spheres on both sides and hadfront suspension work done--arms, bushings etc.
-Installed a new radio, CD and MP3 player--JVC Arsenal KDAHD75BT CD Receiver
-Installed a new hydraulic oil line to the rear suspension as well as some smaller oil lines.
-Had the sheet metal in the rear wheel wells replaced with new steel, pecan shell blasted and then coated with undercoating
-Bought new Michelin Tires front and rear. This was the first summer that I had the car
-had the vacuum pump rebuilt. This supplies the brakes, power steering and other parts of the car with the vacum that makes them power steering and power breaks. You need to be at 18 PSF and it's at 21 PSF.
-The turbo charger needs to be rebuilt just like the vacuum pump was rebuilt. The turbo charger works fine and the car is very fast but if the car sits for a few days without being run oil accumulates in the turbo and burns off when you first start the car.
-The front passenger door locks from the inside and opens and closes fine. There is a rod that needs to be replaced as you cannot open it with a key.
-The rear brake discs should also be replaced. They are at 50% but are rusty and so will make the pads wear quickly.
-The rear windshield wiper motor recently stopped working.
