This Astral Silver/Anthracite over black leather 1990 Mercedes 500SL was sold new at AutoHaus Brugger in Redwood City, CA on 3/29/90. The car has had 4 owners and has been the San Francisco Bay Area since it was new.

This 500SL has 82,800 miles and received a high-quality respray approximately 10 years ago. Imperfections are limited to a few touched up chips and some scrapes under the lower front bumper. The convertible soft top is in good original condition with some minor age-related wear, and new rear plastic windows. The black leather interior has a clean dash area, a sag-free headliner, and nice carpets and door panels. The leather seats are in good condition, with the drivers seat showing minor wear to the edge of the bolster. The factory stereo has been replaced with a Kenwood stereo with CD changer, and the instrument dials have been upgraded with chrome trim surrounds, as seen on the later R129 models.

The engine compartment has been detailed and presents nicely. The trunk area is clean, with a detailed spare tire, a factory First Aid kit and the original tool roll.

The car drives very nicely, with all lights, signals and gauges in proper working order. The power convertible top opens and closes with no issues.

The car comes with the original color-matched hardtop, leather owners pouch with maintenance booklet dealer-stamped thru 51K miles, and one extra key fob. The car does not include the factory windscreen. Service records are limited to the work done in the past several months to prepare the car for sale.

The car has received the following service within the last 500 miles:

·Pre-sale inspection, front brake pads and rotors, brake fluid flush, new strut mounts and new transmission shift bushings by SAS German in Pleasanton, CA.

·New set of four BF Goodrich Comp 2 A/S, W-speed rated tires.

·Oil/ filter change with Mobil1 synthetic oil, new air filter, new cabin air filter.

·New rear windows for the convertible top.

·The previous owner reportedly performed the following maintenance to the car during his ownership, however service records for this work are not available:

oNew struts and shocks

oAir conditioning conversion to R134a

This 500SL is in very nice condition for a first year R129 SL, and is a classic example of Mercedes-Benz designer Bruno Sacco’s design philosophy. The R129 model has been noted by collectors as the last of the over-Engineered Mercedes-Benz roadsters.

The car is currently registered in California and passed a smog test in April of this year.
