1985 Maserati Biturbo Description:

1985 Maserati Biturbo. This is out of my personal collection and has been maintained properly. If something needed done, it got done. Its a real nice example of this car.
The engine starts right up and runs strong. The timing belt and tensioner bearing were replaced in Jan 2017. The Weber carb was rebuilt and adjusted also at that time. This engine has the desireable Sperco water cooled intercooling system to cool the turbo charge going into the carb chamber. The engine bay is clean and the car leaks no fluids. No spots on the garage floor when parked. The AC and heat work...AC is cool not cold but does work. Has just had a fresh oil change and a new filter.
New tires July 2017 and the wheels are from an E model and are a little wider than the standard Biturbo wheels. It got a new battery in Feb 2017. Lights horn and turn signals all work. Hood and trunk release handles operate properly and easily. The door key opens both doors like it should...ie the locks are good and it has the right keys. The power door lock for the passenger door works properly. The power windows both work. It has a new Bluetooth USB sound system and all 4 speakers work, it has a good sound.
The body is pretty straight, some very small dings here and there, but you have to be really nit picking to find anything. The paint is shiney and reflective. The color is a dark custom blue metalic as you can see in the door picture however the paint changes color. In low light it looks black, in cross light it get a purpleish hue...but the car is blue. Its very close to the factory color. The car looks very presentable. Side stripes have been added and are a nice touch. The hood and trunk struts are new Mar2017. The trunk and hood stay up as they should.
The transmission and clutch are good. The clutch slave cylinder was just replaced and the master cylinder was rebuilt in May2017. The rubber clutch line was also replaced. The clutch pedal is firm and operates as it should.
The brakes are good and all the rubber lines to the calipers were just replaced May2017.
The steering rack was recently replaced as was the steering column U joint shaft that connects the column to the steering rack. The steering is tight.
This is a very nice car. I just have too too many and have decided to just keep my old Alfa and my 85 Ferrari....so this one needs a new home. Its a get in and go car...doesnt need anything that Im aware of. I will include a very detailed and complete workshop manual AND I have an ulta rare exhaust Y pipe that allows removal of the cat...and gives you a 15HP bolt on mod. I just never got around to installing it...it was pricey.
Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I can assist their carrier if need be but all costs and arrangements are up to the buyer to take care of.
The car is in great operating condition but as with any vintage sports car there is no warranty expressed or implied. The car has a clear title. Please ask any and all questions BEFORE you bid. I will consider reasonable offers.
There is a $500 Paypal deposit required however DO NOT send the balance to Paypal. They charge 3%...the balance is expected either cash in person or via money orders. I would offer to take checks but there's too many frauds out there...I dont want the hassle. I will not release the car until I have the funds.

I was noticing the free car checker thingy has the car scored kind of low. Im not sure why it did that? The car has never been in an accident and shows only 4 owners in 30+ years. It shows failed smog checks that were done by the 2nd owner in Seattle. I dont have smog checks here but I found the smog diverter valve was shot when I got the car...and it was replaced. The smog pump works and all the components are there and functioning however I have no idea if it will pass a smog check. These cars like to run on the rich side and smog checks dont like that. It is a Maserati not a Camery and in 1985 my guess is the factory got them to just barely pass LOL....these cars like gas!
I also wanted to explain the ownership trail for those of you that care about that kind of thing. Many years ago when I'd just bought my first Biturbo (I've had a few of them) a friend of mine saw a 2 owner car in Seattle. He asked if I wanted to go in 1/2's on the car and we'd paint it (the clear coat was peeling) and then sell it and split any proceeds. Well long story shorter (its not a short story LOL) my buddy decided he wanted to just buy me out of the car however, I never saw the money. He had the car 5 years and then had to move to Seattle (ironic thats where the car came from) and I got a call that if I wanted the car...he'd just sign it over to me. He was the 3rd owner title wise and put a few 100 miles on the car if that in 5 years. It drove fine he just didnt drive it a lot. When he left for Seattle he had to go like right now so the car was pretty much left in the garage where he lived. I told him Ill go get the car...send me the title. Well he left and he could not find the title and I had a car in my garage that I paid for years ago and no title LOL....great. Well he came into town and he and his girlfriend went to get a duplicate title and he then signed it over to her in case there were any further issues she could take care of them...he'd be back in Seattle. She was owner #4 on paper. After they did all that, she brought me the title. At the time I had 2 other projects going on, I wasnt expecting another car to just show up but it was a nice surprise as I had pretty much written the car off. After I finished the other projects it was time to concentrate on this Biturbo. It needed paint and a good going over. The steering was a tad loose and some things were broken on the car like the trunk release handle and various other misc parts. Normal wear and tear on a 30+ year old car but none the less they all needed fixed. It was also due for a timing belt which you dont want to neglect on ANY interference engine, so that got done pretty much 1st. It took 2 years to complete everything. I didnt work on it every day 8 hours a day but I spent every free minute I had addressing things. Again normal things on a classic....hydraulic things dont last forever...and they dont like it went they dont get used all the time...seals get mushy and leak...I went over all that stuff...Lenny at Autoitalia knows me well LOL....over the last 2 years he has helped me get the right parts when I needed anything.
I live WAY out in the country and have driven it a number of times since the work was completed but I dont have a lot of time to drive it right now. I drive it around my "track" road which is 2-3 miles when I have time just to keep everything lubed. It starts with a bump of the key even after sitting (no battery run down) and runs real strong. Its pretty quick. This is not a run down Biturbo as you often see on Ebay that needs everything...I spent quite a bit on the car and it shows when you see it and drive it. The underbody is clean and solid and the engine bay looks VERY clean. WAY above what youd expect. The trunk and wheel wells are clean. Im not going to say it's a showroom car as 30+ years have ticked away but this one has survived and is unmolested...it's a pretty nice vintage Italian sports car. Everything is there and works. I have other Italian cars and this car is as fun to drive as my vintage Ferrari for a LOT less money. I was also surprised to discover that the rear brake pads also fit an Alfa Romeo GTV...which I also have LOL. Contrary to rumors, I found this car very straight forward to work on...tight in places but it's just a V6...with twin turbo's and a carb...technically is not nearly as complicated as the cars are today. If you know how to work on cars you can do the things like oil changes and spark plugs...you shouldnt HAVE to do anything else but drive it. I may have got off topic some but I wanted to explain the car checker thing...its a stupid computer log...it shows 4 owners and yes thats the case as far as issued titles however my buddy (owner #3) put a few 100 miles on it....and his girlfriend (owner #4 on paper) never drove it. Personally after the 1st owner sells it...who cares LOL...its a used car after they buy it...right? My buddy and I acquired it from the 2nd owner. The car has not been bounced from owner to owner. It came to Ohio probably 10 years ago if I am remembering correctly and has been garaged since then. Never driven in snow LOL....not that you could!! Its impossible...way to much power to the rear wheels....ask me how I know. I tried it one time for about 10 seconds just barely tapping the gas pedal...these are not cars for the snow!!
