1951 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Convertible Description:
This crowd-pleaser is one of only 850 similar convertibles built. It is a complete and authentically restored vehicle done some years ago by my father, who was a Lincoln-Mercury dealer, and his staff. Vehicle has been in my family for more than 40 years. Body number is 16-86-103-17-L-137 indicating the correct paint, interior and top colors as shown in the photo and that the car was the 137th vehicle assembled at the Dearborn Lincoln plant on November 17, 1950. The Lincoln Cosmopolitan was the first fully-redesigned American automobile after World War II (1949) and was Ford's first vehicle with an automatic transmission and curved glass windshield. A national search for similar vehicles identified fewer than 25 surviving with only one in this color combination. Reported auction sales, about one every other year, range up to $137,500 dollars with the average just under $79,000. New tires were installed and the cooling system was flushed last year. The paint is not perfect and the canvas top has had a minor repair. Correct fender skirts are included, but have not been installed. Posted photos are recent and should reflect current conditions. Mileage is not guaranteed.
