Starting in mid-1991, Toyota released the new Soarer (Z30), offering the same general powertrain options as the A70 Supra. The JZZ30 was outfitted with Toyota’s twin-turbo 1JZ-GTE, with the JZZ31 using the 2JZ-GE, and the UZZ30 and UZZ31 stuffing the 4.0L 1UZ-FE V8 inside. Toyota paired the 1JZ-GTE motor with a 5-speed manual transmission and Torsen differential, and is often seen as the “sporting” model, with lots of potential tuning and upgrades available.
