1989 Land Rover Range Rover Description:

Overview:

Truck was purchased in 2011 with ~200K miles on it, and still had the original engine. The odometer had been replaced prior to when I purchased it, and it now reads 63,168 miles. 8K miles have been put on the truck, so total mileage is ~208K miles. A used 4.2L long block with ~120K on it was swapped in, which now has ~8K miles on it since the swap. Full details about the motor are below. The paint had been resprayed prior to when I purchased it, and the color-matched wheels were sprayed at the same time.

The head gaskets were replaced this past December, but the truck has not been driven since the top-end rebuild that included machined cylinder heads and new head gaskets. The truck is currently running and will idle, but the engine dies when being put into gear. Unfortunately, I am moving and I need to sell the truck as-is without diagnosing the current problem. The truck was running and driving fine prior to the new head gasket installation. Some of the images show the carpet pulled from the rear hatch to show rust, but the carpet and all interior panels are included with the truck. The title is clear and in-hand, but was registered with an "exempt" status on the odometer due to the odometer swap. Best offers are accepted.

The Good:

• The engine had several service items taken care of when swapped in 8K ago; see below for a full list
• The front floor boards have been replaced, primed and painted with rust preventer, and seam-sealed
• New steel fuel tank from Rovers North was installed, as well as a new fuel pump
• All fluids were replaced when the engine swap was done, including differential fluids
• Aftermarket Holley-Hooker exhaust system
• No signs of rust on the rear tailgate

The Bad:

• There are a few leaks that need to be chased down from the head gasket install
• The interior isn't in great shape, and the paint is starting to fade on the hood
• There are a few dings and dents, as well as a decent sized dent at the bottom of the front driver's side door (shown in images). Does not affect door functionality
• The sunroof was sealed shut by the previous owner
• A few of the tires are beginning to show signs of dry rot
• One of the rear springs is starting to sag. A spare set of (used) springs and shocks are included with the truck
  
• Rear door window motors do not work (spares are included)
  
• AC does not work, and the compressor is toast. The v-belt to the compressor was removed to avoid driving the compressor
  
• There is some rust in the spare tire recession inside of the cabin, presumably from water ingress at the rear hatch seal (shown in images)

Engine (New Items):

• Cylinder heads were machined and new head gaskets were installed
• Performance Crower 229 camshaft and lifters from D&D Fabrications
• Spark plugs and wires
• Distributor cap and rotor
• Water pump
• Oil pump and oil pump gears
• Thermostat
• Oil pressure switch

Delivery/Pickup:

Truck must be picked up within 14 days of the end of auction, and the buyer must arrange shipping at their own expense should local pickup not be an option. Truck is located in Huntsville, AL.
