1993 Land Rover Defender Description:

1993 Land Rover NAS Defender 110, #161/500, 53k miles, Alpine white with Gray, 3.9 liter V8 engine, 5 speed manual transmission, air conditioning, 9 passengers seating with four inward facing rear seats, full NAS external cage with low-profile ROX roof rack, ROX front bumper with Warn M8000 winch, Tuffy center console, 3 brush-guard mounted Hella 4000 driving lights, front and rear roof mounted LED off-road lights, upgraded sound system, Badger Coachworks seat covers to all seating surfaces, books, tools, records, many upgrades performed by marque specialist, an authentic 1993 NAS Defender 110 and #161 of just 534 imported by LRNA.

Mechanically, the truck is very sound. Most recently the O/F have been changed and chassis lubrication performed, air filter replaced, brake fluid, coolant, clutch, front and rear differentials, and the transfer case fluids have all been renewed. The A/C system has been serviced and blows cold. The heater control cable has been replaced, the blower resistor replaced, and the vacuum switch for the heater valve repaired. The condensor fans have been replaced, parking brake cable freed up and a return spring installed, horns replaced, and the right rear door latch and striker were replaced.

Work performed by Land Rover specialist includes the following:

-Door hinges replaced

-Door seals replaced

-New headliner installed

-R380 gearbox installed

-H4 headlight conversion

-A/C work performed

-ROX oil cooler hoses installed

-Mud flaps installed

-Running boards installed

-Stage 1 suspension upgrade (heavier springs and Bilstein shocks)

-Rear disc brakes added, vented rotors up front

-Upgraded sound system with iPod integration

-Tuffy center console

-Badger Coachworks seat covers

-Interior kick panels replaced

-ROX front bumper and skid plate

-Turn signal wiring upgrade

-3x Hella 4000 driving lights

-LED off-road lights front and rear

-Low profile ROX roof rack

-Rear back up camera installed

-Wider tires installed

Cosmetically, the truck is quite rough. The bulkhead has severe/terminal rust below the windshield. All four passenger doors are badly rotted. The frame, while solid, has significant corrosion all over it. The same goes for the running boards. The floors are surprisingly good. The paint looks to be original and has good shine but there are numerous scuffs, scrapes, and dings. There is some rust bleed at the hinges though the hinges themselves look to be good upgraded units. The external cage is in good condition. The interior is in fair shape. The seats, headliner, and dash are in good condition. All seating surfaces are covered in Badger Coachworks seat covers. The interior door panels are not cracked or broken. The door sills look to be in relatively good shape. The seat bases have some surface corrosion. Ultimately, this truck needs a cosmetic restoration.

Nearly all vehicle systems function as they should. Interior and exterior lighting are all functional. The truck has good heat and A/C. All gauges work except for the fuel gauge. The upgraded Alpine stereo with iPod integration works nicely. The truck starts right up and runs very well. The R380 gearbox shifts nicely and makes the driving experience significantly better over the original unit. The four wheel disc brakes are a big improvement over the original set up. They stop the car nicely with no pulsation or pull. Surprisingly, the truck is remarkably leak free. All in all, this is a serviceable truck that would service as a great foundation for a full restoration.
