Introduction

This truck attracts attention. If you’re not comfortable with it, don't buy it. Occasionally people will wave, give thumbs up out the window while driving on the freeway, walk into telephone poles or blow kisses at you. It’s a real head-turner. Get used to it. The body color is Bronze Green and Limestone. Although this color combination looks great and gets a lot of comments, it is not the original color of the vehicle. The truck was originally Arles Blue.

This is not a creampuff garage queen. It has been places. It has gone off road. It has dings, dents, flaking paint and brush rash. That said, I have spared no expense keeping it in perfect mechanical running condition. All known imperfections have been taken into account when pricing this vehicle. I have a slight case of OCD and am extremely detail oriented. You could call me an obsessive parts-replacer. I have spared no expense to ensure that the vehicle is kept in mechanically perfect condition. Please email/message me if you have questions or would like more photos.

History

Number 219 has a unique history. It was purchased in 1996 at a dealership as a brand new 1995 NAS Defender 90. This vehicle is rare, not just because it had a brand new 300tdi installed in 2004, but because Rovers North performed the installation. I have all the paperwork for it. $24,000 was spent on the engine and transmission swap. This particular 300tdi engine is also unique in that it was one of the last 300tdi engines to come off the assembly line in South America before production ended in 2006. It was brand spanking new when it was installed. As of today the engine and R380 drivetrain only has 70k miles on it. Axles and transfer case has 114k.

I have tracked milage and fuel economy for the entire length of my ownership. The fuel economy of his 300tdi averages around 15.5 mpg in the city and 21.9 on highway. Once on a downhill with headwind, in a hurricane I got 28.7 mpg. When I purchased it in 2008 I had the chassis steam cleaned and Waxoyled. Inside the chassis as well as inside all doors. The chassis is in excellent condition and completely rust free. There's a rust spot inside the rear crossmember on the right hand side, as with most Defenders this age, by poor design unfortunately. To the best of my knowledge all known imperfections are listed below.

In 2012 I replaced the timing belt and in 2013 I installed a ceramic coated Garrett GT-22 VNT Turbo and ceramic coated manifold and down-pipe. The truck got new shoes in 2015. In 2016 I installed an Allisport full width aluminum radiator and intercooler assembly which, besides the weight savings, keeps the engine at perfect running temperature over long drives, regardless of conditions. Last year I also installed two amazing Scheel-Mann seats which are, without question the most comfortable seats I’ve ever sat in. They are worth every penny. These seats are the Land Rover Defender Edition, so the seat base hinges up for seat box access.
