1966 JAGUAR MARK X

The Jaguar Mark X (Mark ten), later renamed the Jaguar 420G, was British manufacturer Jaguar's top-of-the-range saloon car for a decade, from 1961 to 1970. The large, luxurious Mark X succeeded the Mark IX as the company's top saloon model, and was primarily aimed at the United States market. The company hoped to appeal to heads of state, diplomats and film stars.
ntroduced in the same year as Jaguar's iconic E-Type, the Mark X impressed with its technical specification and innovations. Contrary to its predecessors, the car featured integrated, unitary bodywork the largest in the UK at the time, as well as independent rear suspension, unheard for early 1960s British luxury cars. Combined with the 3.8-litre, triple carburettor engine as fitted to the E-type, it gave Jaguar's flagship a top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h) and capable handling at less than half the price of the contemporary Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud.
Despite press acclaim from both sides of the Atlantic, the Mark X never achieved its sales targets. When Jaguar decided to replace its entire saloon range with a single new model, the resulting XJ6 of 1968 used the Mark X as a template albeit with a reduced size. Jaguar didn't build another car as large as the Mark X / 420G for the rest of the century, until the LWB version of the 20032009 Jaguar XJ (X350).

MECHANICALLY GONE THROUGH PROFESSIONALLY. REAR END HAS BEEN OUT AND RE-SEALED WITH NEW BRAKES. FRONT SUSPENSION WAS RE- BUILT, NEW BRAKES IN FRONT AS WELL WITH NEW MASTER CYLINDER. NEW ENGINE WITH NEWER BIG VALVE HEAD AND TRIPLE SU CARBS AND A TYPE 65 BORG WARNER. TWIN FUEL TANKS AND PUMPS GONE THROUGH. TRANSFER SWITCH AND GAUGE FOR TWIN TANKS WORK AS THEY SHOULD. COOLING SYSTEM HAS BEEN REDONE, RADIATOR, HOSES, MOUNTS. UPGRADED ALTERNATOR AND NICE CORRECT EXHAUST. 15 INCH WHEELS WITH PIRELLI TIRES. POWER STEERING, EXTERIOR LIGHTS, WIPERS, INDICATORS, HEATER, INTERIOR LIGHTS, DASH LIGHTS, ELECTRIC WINDOWS ARE ALL IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER. FULL LENGTH SUNROOF IS IN GREAT CONDITION. OLDER REPAINT STILL LOOKS PRESENTABLE. NICE GLASS AND CHROME. THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS DRY AND SOLID. GREAT OLD LEATHER INTERIOR WITH LOVELY ORIGINAL WOODWORK IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. ELECTRIC WINDOWS, LIGHTS, GAUGES ALL WORK.
THIS IS AN EVERYDAY CAR IN EXCELLENT RUNNING AND DRIVING CONDITION.

Payment
Please, be ready to buy when you click. A non-refundable $500 deposit is due when the auction ends. The final payment is due within 7 days after the auction ends. Balance is to be paid via bank wire or a certified bank cashier's check. Check will need to clear before the vehicle is released and the title is sent. The winning bidder needs to contact me within 24 hours of auction end to make payment arrangements. Please, arrange all financing prior to bidding. If you are not sure about anything, please don't assume - just ask. I'm very easy going and will help in any way I can, but, please, be absolutely sure that you are ready to buy when you bid.
