1995 Jaguar XJS Description:

Rare, nice example of the 1995 Jaguar XJS Coupe with the 6.0L V12. One of either 50 or 70, depending on who you ask.
Although there are lots of listings for Jags with the 5.3L V12, the 6.0L is much rarer, more efficient, and more powerful. Though not quick off the line, this old girl still moves on the highway.. about 300hp, 3900lbs, and who-knows how much torque. Has some of that smoothness the cars were reputed for, but it also, oddly, feels like driving a muscle car... a small one, with twin shocks on each rear corner, and a GM 4 speed auto box. Its easy to break the rear end loose, and is fun to drive.
The twin-rear shocks at each rear wheel was a hold-over from the original design, but in 1992/3 Jag moved the rear brakes out-board. Has the Teves ABS system, so it brakes like a modern car.
From 1993 onwards, something like 4 out of 5 of these cars had the 6-cylinder engine, which is arguably the better motor, but certainly has 6 cylinders too few. From 1989 onwards, the coupes are much rarer than the convertibles, and I only see one comparable car for sale on line at the moment, and it's listed for a lot more.
This one has the super-rare 'Celebration' machined aluminum wheels with body-matched painted spoke-holes. It also has the OEM rear spoiler with integrated 3rd brake light. It has a newer Pioneer bluetooth stereo, and the original CD-changer in the truck. I replaced the belts, charged the AC, and did an ignition tune up when I bought it in 2015. The previous owner installed federal spec 5" headlamps from a pre-1992 model. The later headlights aren't as bright and look goofy.
To 'restore' this car to OEM spec, it just needs the Jaguar stereo head-unit reinstalled, and the headlights changed out.. I didn't restore it to spec as I'm not a purist, and preferred the look of the 5" headlamps. I also have the original center console with the ash-trays... the car currently has a center console veneer from British Autowood, with cup-holder and no cigarette lighter. There's a 12v socket in the center arm-rest. As you may know, these cars don't have glove boxes... this one has an amplifier and EQ situated near the OEM fuse-box, behind the panel where the glove-box would be on the pre-1992 XJS. The aftermarket sound-system has bluetooth, so you can talk handsfree in the car. The car originally had a car-phone, but I don't have it... the original wiring is there, but I could't find an OEM one online... that's a rare option, if you can find one... even thought it would be a 1G cellphone, and there are no 1G networks any more.
Has a gold Growler on the hood, but I also have the Leaper that it originally came with. Appearance wise, the interior is complete, and the fit and finish is 'original', which is to say the power-windows switch is a little loose, but that's just how these cars were made... the exterior paint and trim are nice, but there are a couple of spots where it seems to have been detailed a little too aggressively, and a scuff on the chromed-plastic bumper cover on the drivers side. None of the imperfections are life threatening... we're not talking rust here! I figured if I was to keep the car, I'd repaint it, but I know a lot of buyers prefer the original paint, so I left it alone'. It's a head turner, but not quite a show-car.
While stored, it is on a battery minder, and I use the block warmer the day before I start the engine. I fired it up yesterday and took it for a drive... cold day (20F) but the roads were clear of salt, and I washed it when I got it home. Car ran great - the transmission has the usual GM 4L80e sounds, but shifts as well as can be expected from that gearbox... I suspect the AC belt is a little tight.. the engine is smooth and quiet at idle... the loudest thing is of course the radiator fan, which I kept as stock, even though I was tempted to fit twin electric fans. Steering is easy and responsive and tracks fine on straight roads, however it did groan at full-lock in the parking lot... I've been meaning to service the power steering, but didn't get to it. The front tires have maybe 2000 miles on them... the rear ones about 4000... brake pads have about 2000 miles. The rotors look good, but I don't know how long they've been on. I bled, flushed, and re-filled the braking system 2000 miles ago, and from driving it yesterday, the brakes feel good and stop the car in a very controlled and balanced way..
I'm downsizing because we have too many toys - I also have a 'matching' 2005 Jaguar XKR convertible in nice shape with new paint. The pair look good parked side-by-side in a collection. Come have a look. Make me an offer.
** Important ** It has a major alert on its Carfax... shows it received a junk title in 2000, then received a rebuilt title in 2002. Exactly why it got the junk title remains a mystery - the previous owner said it was flooded in a basement parking lot, but if that's true, there's no sign of flooding... I pulled up the sound-dampening material in the cab, and the carpet in the trunk.. it all looks rust-free. Also, from the underside, it is rust-free, and has received a protective coating at some point. Even the exhaust and exhaust fasteners are clean. The engine and engine bay are also clean, and don't show signs of a flood... there's no rust or sand, as you'd typically find. I asked a Jaguar mechanic (at a dealer) for his opinion on the car at the time I bought it, and he said it was in great shape.
** Make me an offer. I won't be insulted, and the worst that can happen is I say no to your price. Thanks for reading my listing, and have a fun day.
It's being sold as-is... check it out, come drive it... nice car.
