1980 International Harvester Scout Description:
Up for sale is my 1980 International Harvester Scout II 4WD with Automatic Transmission. This is the best Scout around, and I invite you to inspect it closely and take a test drive if you are local. Bring your mechanic too. The odometer shows just under 85k miles. I have over $9,000 in receipts over the past nine months, including significant rehab to the original 345 V8, and a new 6-point roll bar installed at local four wheeler specialist Independent 4X in Ashland, VA. The truck drives straight and is ready for conversion to an off road beast, if you are so inclined. As it sits today, it is a very solid and nice-to-drive classic truck on brand new BFG All Terrain tires. As classic truck values go, the Scout is the next Bronco. Get it now while it is still affordable for mortals.
The Bimini Blue metallic paint is in excellent condition with minor patina on the hood. A few chips along the rocker panels befitting a properly used (but not abused) four-wheeler. All four wheels and the spare are the rarely seen originals that came with the Scout.
The hard top is included with the sale and pictured below in matching body blue paint. It fits nicely over the roll bar and i can install for you if the buyer prefers. The interior is re-finished in tan weatherproof vinyl, and I installed a new marine grade stereo with four speakers. Weather proof rubber covers all flooring.
Most importantly, the undercarriage.... must be seen to be appreciated. Very solid throughout. Every mechanic who has seen this truck on a lift has noted that it is the nicest one they have ever seen. No Scout is rust free, but this one is as close as you will find. The rain channels in the removable top have minor evidence of surface rust, and there is similar light corrosion at the connection point of the top and body. All body panels are all solid and there is no evidence of accident damage. The truck features a hitch coupler and electrical harness for a trailer.
