1979 International Harvester Scout II 4x4

1979 International Harvester Scout Rally-e Description:

I have up for sale an International Scout II. This Scout is a 1979 model with the Rally-e package, Tahitian Red paint with white trim, and plaid/copper interior. It features a 345 V-8 Motor paired with a 3 speed automatic transmission. 90,6XX original miles. This Scout was well–equipped and came with power steering, power disc brakes, and air conditioning. The prior owner purchased this Scout brand new off the showroom floor in Greensboro, NC and put just about all the miles on her. Most everything is all original aside from standard replacement parts. The top has never been off. It was well taken care of and maintained on a regular schedule at the time.

The Good:

·*The Scout still runs, drives, and shifts well.

·*4x4 works

·*Interior is in good condition

·*Lights, blinkers, and radio, etc all work

·*New plugs, wires, distributor cap, valve cover gaskets, & Air, fuel filter

·*New brakes all around (complete disk/rotors, shoes/drums) & new master cylinder. Newer NAPA battery.

·*Tires are decent

·*Starting to show her age. It leaks oil and needs the carb adjusted for easier start-up when warm. Smokes some on start-up.

·*Just like all Scouts, there is some rust that needs to be addressed, most notably on the rocker panels and around the rear fender wells. There is rust around the front cab mounts as well. Aside from those areas I haven’t had anyone look at it to see how extensive the rust is, but given its age, I have seen much worse, especially with Scouts.

·*Gas gauge does not work and upon fill-up, leaks from the hose to the tank.

· * A/C does not work, compressor was removed but included to buyer

Otherwise she is pretty solid for a 40 year old vehicle! I love this SUV but do not have the time or money to undertake this project, so my loss is your gain. The winning buyer will also receive a custom made rollbar (pictured) that mounts behind the front seats and a brand new bikini top as well. I also have the International Scout Service Manuals, Volume I and II, in great condition. Linesetting ticket in glove box. Clear title in hand. Vehicle is sold as-is.
