1981 Honda Accord 4 Door Description:

This accord is in beautiful condition for its age. This car belonged to my Great Aunt and she was the original owner. I got the car in 2016 and have been slowing fixing it up and enjoying it. Not much needed to be done but I wanted to try to make it look and drive great while keeping the car original. The dealer wanted my aunt to replace the carb but I got it rebuilt this year instead. It would not idle properly after the Carb rebuild because of a bad shot valve. I replaced the shot valve 3 times. They don't make this part anymore so I finally lucked out and the 3rd shot valve worked. I drove 650 miles to a junk yard to get this part and back 650 miles! My mechanic did plug up a vacuum hose and it ran perfectly but I'm very picky and had to find a shot valve that worked. My Great Aunt was still driving this car at the age of 89 and because her garage is very narrow, she did manage to clip the sides now and then. The worst of it is just in front of the drivers door under the Honda emblem. I'm sure it can be pulled out easily. There are also a few dimple dents that should come out easily with paintless dent repair. The car is only missing the front passenger door trim piece, a plastic cap that locks in at the back end of it. I believe its picture 10. I'm still waiting for a junk yard to get another accord hoping it has this piece. I hate to see this car go but I have to downsize my collection due to losing my storage/warehouse space. My aunt did not drive much and those are original miles! I also have her dads 51 dodge pickup with 24k original miles! I'm a car enthusiast that can't stand people not being truthful about their cars. I am not that person. The car drives great, no issues with shifting/ clutch is strong. I live in the Bay Area and would drive this car to New York if needed. The only issue that is bugging me is once in while when going over a bump, I hear a clunk. Real odd because I had the rear shocks replaced hoping to fix this but it's still there. Oddly enough, I just ran into a similar issue with an Alfa Romeo GTV of mine. It turned out to be a muffler hitting part of the body. I will look into it asap but this by no means is an issue with drivability. The car has a clean title in my name and as of right now it is registered as a non op because I just don't drive it enough. I do have insurance on it and do sneak out a few times a month to enjoy it.
