1952 GMC 150 3/4 ton Description:

It's harder and harder to find an original, complete and running vintage vehicle and this is one of the few that still exist. This 1952 GMC was built for my grandfather, who was a mechanical engineer at the Oakland GM Plant. It came with the chrome bumper and chrome hubcaps off the line. The hubcaps were inscribed to my grandfather. *Please note that the hubcaps are long gone and no longer on the truck.*This happens to be a rare truck of sorts, as it is a 3/4 ton, three window that is nearly all original and has been owned by the same family since new.In the last year, I had the VIN verified and registration brought current, as it was stored in the barn and only driven on the family ranch since 1985. Since this was before DMV Non-OP was enforced, the registration dropped off of the CA DMV system. I have a 1954 pink slip showing my grandmother as owner. My Grandfather passed away in 1953 and vehicle title had to be changed then to my Grandmother.
Truck starts, idles, drives and stops. I have driven it around town, to and from the DMV, Truck scales and CHP office for VIN verification. It is a running and registered truck but it is also 68 years old. I do not warranty, guarantee nor do I recommend driving vehicle any distance until new owner has completely gone through truck and knows its capabilities.
This GMC has a driver side UNITY spotlight, heater and Barden rear bumper that includes brake/running lights and also special white reverse lighting system operated by a switch under dash. There is also a custom made steel dual cell fuel tank, with dual hand pumps that was used to re-fuel ranch vehicles. The bed is in good shape with no holes in wood floor, light surface rust on interior bed sides where a cardboard was stored and attracted moisture. I used steel wool in a small area and the rust area came clean.
While it was stored it would get started up here and there and then back into its slumber. When it was driven to take it in for the tires, brakes and servicing, the speedometer started making a buzzing noise, the speedometer needle started jumping then stopped at 30 mph. I have not had speedometer repaired. I can't prove it, but this truck has not been over 100K miles to my knowledge.
The VIN was decodedas follows:VIN: 15= 3/4 ton 150 Series. 2= 125.25" wheelbase. 22= 228 Engine. C= Oakland. On the number, 3481 would be the 2,481st¾ ton chassis off the Oakland line in that model run which actually began in ’51.
ADDITIONAL PICTURES AND VIDEOS AVAILABLE, PLEASE MESSAGE DIRECTLY AND I WILL SEND THEM.
The metal on the truck seems to be very solid, the body is very nice and not beat up. Please note that there is some rust through on the cab floorboard, mainly near battery box. I have been told that the floorboard rust was common due to the battery being mounted under the passenger floor.Again, they are only original once and this is just about as close as it gets.
Truck it is still located in Chico, up in Northern California at a family ranch. Viewing can be arranged with advance notice.
Re-cap of vehicle condition from above.Original family owned, complete truck that was stored in a barn in Northern California. This truck is in surprising condition for its age. It is currently running, registered and insured. I had all new tires installed on the original widow maker rims, the old tires were almost 50 years old and would not hold air any longer. The body is in good shape free from major dents and has a great patina. There are some rust holes in the floorboard near the battery box. Vehicle was repainted once that I know of in the late 1960's, same color I believe. Once of the side windows is cracked but intact. Passenger sun-visor mounting bracket is broken. Seat was re-upholstered in the 1960's as well. I had the wheel bearings repacked and brakes flushed and adjusted. Original engine and transmission. Has the optional rear canvas bed canopy and bow hoops. Vehicle is being sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS, no implied warrantyor guarantees with sale. ALL SALES FINAL. Personal inspectionsencouraged, please message directly to set up appointment.
