The goal was to achieve similar horsepower from a motor that was smaller, more efficient and lighter than the 5.0 Liter V8. Ford engineers developed a 2.3 liter turbo charged inline 4 cylinder engine that was able to achieve the task. The power was similar and combined with less weight and better weight distribution, the SVO's overall performance rivaled any car in the era.
The 1986 Ford SVO offered here is a great, unmolested example that has been with the same owner since purchased new at Champion Ford of Denver Co. The car is finished in Bright Red exterior paint over Grey leather interior. The car remains completely stock and completely original.
