1949 Ford Other Pickups Description:

1949 Mercury M68Pickup Truck. This is an un-restored barn find truck in remarkable original condition with very low miles. Original Flathead V8 that turns freely. A very good candidate for a full restoration. Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder. Contact must be made within 24 hours of the auction ending or it will be assumed that you have no intention of honoring your bid and the truck will be offered to others. Zero Feedback bidders must make contact prior to bidding.
This truck has a very solid and straight body, it has very minimal rust with no repairs or bondo. The floorboards and cab corners are in excellent condition. The doors are also in excellent condition. The front fenders have some extremely minor corrosion in the usual areas that 48-52 Ford trucks suffer from but far far less than most original examples, it is so minimal that it is barely noticeable. The bedsides have none of the typical rust that these trucks suffer from. The body of this truck is incredibly straight, I've never seen an un-restored farm truck of this era with such few dents. The wooden bed floor is mostly rotted away as is often the case. All Mercury emblems are present and in excellent condition. The Mercury specific chrome grille is in perfect condition, these are often dented and it is impossible to source straight ones like this. The original Mercury tailgate is present and in nice condition. Overall this is a very good all original example of a highly sought after 1949 Mercury pickup truck. The very solid and exceptionally straight body gives it an aesthetically pleasing look and makes it an ideal candidate for a full restoration.
The interior is complete and in good condition for its age. The seat will need re-upholstering as is always the case with un-restored trucks of this vintage. The Mercury specific radio blank and horn button are present. The radio black does have the typical crack though.
This truck rolls and steers freely for ease of loading onto a trailer or moving into a shop. All tires hold air. The original flathead V8 turns freely but needs work to the fuel system to get running again.
This will make a great project being that it is a rare and highly desirable Mercury truck and has extremely minimal bodywork to contend with compared to most examples. This truck has only covered 38,841 miles from new, it was last registered in 1968. It was only used during harvest time and parked for the rest of the year and put inside for the winter hence the remarkable original condition. It hasn't ran since around the turn of the century but shouldn't take much to get going. It deserves bringing back to life. Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder.
Due to the much smaller Canadian market, Ford of Canada only sold approximately one tenth as many trucks as Ford did in the US and around two thirds of those were Ford's leaving the remaining third to be Mercury's. So very few of these trucks were produced and it is becoming much harder for us to source nice original and complete examples such as this. Due to Canada's harsh climate only a handful remain today.
If you would like a shipping quote please message us and we will provide you with the contact information of our preferred shippers that are very familiar with loading and hauling the type of vehicles that we sell. You may find this very preferable over dealing with brokers and the nonsense that goes along with that.
If you are buyer outside of the US, then please read our section below, titled 'Shipping' so that you understand what your options are.

who we are and what we do

We are two brothers who seek out original trucks and cars from all across Canada, specializing in vehicles from the 40s, 50s and 60s.

Most American barn finds have long since been found and tampered with by multiple owners; North of the border there still seems to be an abundance of good, solid, original vehicles, waiting to be brought back to life.

We make thesevehicles available to the US market by taking care of importation and providing all paperwork required to obtain a ClearUS Title, in your name and home State.

We are passionate about finding the best there is and understand that our customers wantto see automobiles that have not been tampered with; The more original, the better.

Our inventory is regularly updated, as new finds are unearthed. If there is something specific that you are looking for, then let us know and we'd be happy to see if we can help.

The business we conduct is straightforward and honest. Whether you're looking for something that'sall original, a starting point for a restoration project or the bones for a custom build, Bison Brothers are here to help.
