SOME FUN FACTS:

I was living across the street from George Fulmer and his family in 1970 who along with Ford Racing teammate Parnelli Jones won the Trans-Am Championship that year! Parnelli Jones has personally signed this Boss 302 already and my hope would be to reconnect one day with George Fullmer to add his signature as that would be a very special touch to an already outstanding '70 Boss 302!

DETAILS: This particular Boss was manufactured to meet CA fuel evaporative emission control system requirements and was originally sold new from Bill EllisFORDRIALTO, CAin October of 1969. This Boss lived the majority of its life within a 60 mile radius of where it was first purchased in sunny desert dry southern California. I have owned this Boss for over 5 years and it is now located just north of the Atlanta area in Acworth Georgia where I recently relocated. This Boss was ordered "ALL BUSINESS” receiving the very desirable PERFORMANCE 3:91 gearing with TRACTION-LOK HD posi rear differential. This Boss is a very well preserved original low mile Competition Yellow 1970 Boss 302. It possesses a treasure trove of factory original FoMoCo parts down to its "FoMoCo" original headlights. This B2 has had careful attention given to performance, function, reliability, and drivability as well as being expertly detailed to a meticulous show machine by the second owner who was a Concourse Boss/Shelby judge expert. Since top level performance, reliability, drivability and clean engine compartment where my personal priority over conforming to a strict set of rules meant to earn points over functionality, and most shows today do not focus on what distributor you have or if your smog pump is present, I chose to go with the "Day Two" theme making subtle non-invasive performance upgrades. Nothing has been done that is not easily undone by bolting back on an original item should a future owner decide to turn the Boss back to a "Day One" concourse trailer queen. BUT I BET, one drive in this absolutely SPECTACULAR PERFORMING BOSS 302 and there will be no going back to the weight-adding, power-robbing, problematic issues of bolting back on smog pumps, fuel evaporative emissions systems, restricted air intake & exhausts or poor performing carb & distributor parts such as what came originally in 1970.

THE BOSS'S HISTORY: The second owner of this Boss who was a Certified Boss/Shelby show judge/expert personally relayed to me the following information about this Boss: The original owner owned the Boss for the first 18 years from new in Oct 1969 to 1987. While under the initial factory warranty period, the original owner was persuasive enough to have the Ford dealership under warranty install a replacement factory over the counter Boss 302 bottom end with the reinforced pistons because he wanted to head off the piston skirt failure issues that was known to be common with the '69 and earlier '70 Boss 302s. When the second owner purchased the Boss in 1987 from the original owner, it was still wearing its original factory applied yellow paint, having a perfect virgin original body that was 100% rust free and accident free with all it's original sheet metal, clean uncarriage and a nice original interior with only 60K miles from new. Immediately upon getting his prize home, he disassembled it carefully documenting all the factory original assembly line details regarding the factory overspray, assembly line markings, exact factory stripe placement on the hood, sides and trunk, etc.. Over a period of time he located any original Ford NOS parts he thought it should have while they were still obtainable. The exterior body and inside of the engine compartment were stripped to bare metal revealing pristine factory original body panels. He meticulously detailed the engine bay, undercarriage, and suspension to an original as new factory appearance and resprayed the exterior back to Competition yellow. Being a Boss/Shelby judge and a stickler for details, the second owner was not satisfied to have an over the counter "D1ZE Boss 302 warranty block" residing in the engine bay and used his extensive connections and travels as a Boss/Shelby certified judge to locate and obtain an absolutely 100% correct dated original factory assembly line production '70 Boss 302 motor with correct matching casting numbers down to a matching casting date and final assembly date with low miles and standard bore. He obtained NOS factory original FoMoCo internal parts such as the reinforced TRW Boss302 pistons / rings / bearings / etc to freshen up the Boss motorkeeping thebore std. Under my ownership, having already had a few 100% stock Boss 302s, a few 428CJs (including a very rare GT convertible 428CJ "R code" with only 12K orig miles), plus a '69 Boss 9 (KK1551 a West Coast National Concourse Champion back in the early '90's), I decided my personal Ultimate '70 BOSS 302 Mustang would be one that is internally upgraded infusing modern day advanced engineered performance parts that are vastly superior to parts of yesteryear (I.E. cams and valve train; flat tappet VS roller). So I had this Boss motor completely gone through by a Ford small block racing specialist. While utilizing all the original major bulletproof components specialized to the '70 BOSS 302, it is now; balanced, blueprinted, and internally upgraded with many top quality modern engineered parts for outstanding performance and durability. I would estimate close to an additional 80 to 100 horsepower over stock output with a significant increase in torque while adding durability & reliability.

BODY: 100% ALL original factory body panels, floor pans, frame rails, torque boxes, brackets, etc... are all original from Day One to this Boss and are as nice, straight, and rust free as the day it rolled off the assembly line. Since this Boss has lived in one of the driest climates in the USA and has been stored indoors all its life, there has always been ZERO rust issues ever and no accidents. The body is all metal and "factory straight”, no repairs, no bondo skim coats, so body panels are free of filler as they were on day one. Doors open and close like new and even sound tight like new doors. Under the carpeting still has the born with original factory assembly line applied yellow paint and seam sealers so the original floor pans look fantastic. This truly is one of the finest virgin perfect 70 Boss 302 bodies you could ever find!

PAINT and TRIM: Paint is exceptionally nice and absolutely show worthy. Painted in the early 90s and still looking gorgeous today. It has been driven about 4K miles since being painted 20+ years ago so expect some minimal blemishes. The trim and misc other items all appear as excellent to immaculate and are original from FoMoCo. Still has original FoMoCo glass and lenses in all the side marker and tail lights, even still has original FoMoCo headlights. Stainless trim, chrome, grill, etc all looks great. Second owner told me he added the very rare "real deal" Ford Performance Hood Mounted Tach which he obtained NOS in the box back in the 80s plus a set of FoMoCo NOS '69 Mustang Hood Pins. I think these two race car inspired factory Ford Performance Parts perfectly complement the already aggressive BOSS package.

UNDERCARRIAGE: Correctly detailed to factory like new appearance off the assembly line. This Boss undercarriage is still beautiful and show worthy having the correct overlapping of red-oxide under body sealer, yellow overspray, sealers, and correct blackout areas just as was done by the factory on the assembly line. Being an original CA vehicle this Boss never had any undercoat added to the pan areas and has stayed that way so the undercarriage looks exceptional and amazing. No damage and no repairs, all original factory assembly line spot welds, floor pans, frame rails, torque boxes, brackets, etc..everything is factory original. Rear differential and leaf springs are completely free from any surface pitting and detailed including assembly line markings. Front and rear wheel well areas are all highly detailed and exceptionally clean. I think one of the nicest detailed and cleanest undercarriages you will ever find on a street driven Boss 302 and will rival or be better than many trailer queens. I replaced the original factory style restrictive exhaust system that was on it when I purchased it with a full 2 ½" exhaust system with true "X" pipe which allows spent exhaust gasses to flow freely and sounds awesome.

INTERIOR: Exceptionally clean, appearing very original and show worthy. Absolutely nothing incorrect or out of place and one of the best I have seen. Correct right down to the original factory Ford rubber floor mounted shifter boot with chrome trim ring, correct competition Hurst shifter with correct original "open 4" Hurst "T" handle with side set screw. The correct standard two spoke steering wheel is in amazing original condition (not a repainted restored unit). Beautiful original gages and knobs. Has its original dash pad, headliner, sun visors, rear sail panels, etc... Second owner added a factory fold down rear seat when you could find perfect originals. Open the glove box and ashtray and you will find they too are clean on the inside. Look up under the dash area and it is all original and very clean with it's original factory wiring harnesses many with their original factory part number tags still in place.

TRUNK: Very clean and very original in appearance with all original rear quarter body panels and tail panel visible with the original assembly line applied sound deadening inside the rear quarters and seam sealer. Also still has some original yellow paint from the factory in places. Trunk appears as how it came off the assembly line still possessing the visible California evaporative emission system plastic vapor collection tanks and brackets in the trunk along with a space saver spare tire, felt top pad, scissor jack, lug wrench, and inflator bottle with hold down bracket and spring. Trunk has what I believe to be a rare and mint condition original factory speckled trunk mat. The orig CA evap gas tanks had a tendency to leak gas vapors into the vehicle so an OEM non-evap standard Mustang gas tank as used in the rest of the USA has been installed so the CA evap system is present, but not presently connected.

SUSPENSION: Super clean and detailed. Second owner installed all new bushings and replaced any worn suspension items as needed plus installed rare full set of vintage '70s H.D. Koni shocks, an original Shelby one-piece shock tower to firewall brace, Global West upper control arms, and set of cross drilled HD front disc rotors for increased braking efficiency. Bottom line is that this Boss drives tight, straight, brakes well, and handles well.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Beautiful and super clean in all aspects with many desirable original factory FoMoCo parts including it's original factory installed wiring harnesses and an original FoMoCo Engine Oil Cooler Unit with Ford factory original Connecting Lines and Block Cooler to Filter Adaptor (this complete original Ford drag pack oil cooler system alone is worth $4K+ if you can find a complete system). Details abound and you will find a treasure trove of original FoMoCo parts such as the correct for '70 year "dimpled" rivet hood hinges / fan belt / radiator hoses / volt regulator / starter solenoid / windshield fluid bottle, etc...One of the best, cleanest, most highly detailed engine compartments you will find on a street driven '70 Boss 302 and clean enough to be shown even in a trailered class.

ENGINE: 100% correct assembly line true 1970 Boss 302 motor with correct matching casting numbers / matching casting date / correct assembly dated. This Boss 302 Motor was built by an exceptional Ford small block racing engine specialist. Factory original Boss specific major components are all present such as block, crank, connecting rods, heads, original factory aluminum intake, water pump assembly with correct part casting numbers, original timing cover, original factory oil pan with correct part number and date code, correct Boss pulleys, correct Boss mounting brackets, correct Boss oil pressure solenoid mount, original 70 Boss fan with super rare OEM Ford radiator fan shroud, etc.... Many internal engine parts upgraded to the best modern day engineered performance parts available such as custom made 10.5 compression .20 over pistons with special rings, ARP rod bolts, ARP main journal bolts, ARP screw in stud rocker bolts, ARP head bolts, Clevite bearings, Cam Research customized roller cam & solid roller lifters / Comp roller rockers, HD pushrods, complete set of stainless steel valves intake / exhaust, hardened seats, Comp HD valve springs with matched retainers, HD high volume oil pump, etc...all working together to produce maximum horsepower, durability plus increases to torque in the lower usable RPM range. A beautiful (and very expensive) set of FPA scavenger performance tuned 1.75" long tube thick-wall headers with 3" ball collector and polished chrome ceramic coating for reduced header surface temperatures are installed and connected to the 2 ½" complete full exhaust system with "X" pipe. A high efficiency radiator was custom fabricated using this Boss's original "FoMoCo" radiator top & bottom tanks & original frame bracket mated to a high efficiency core to eliminate even a remote possibility of ever overheating yet completely maintain a totally stock appearance to pass for concours judging. An 11" HD diaphragm clutch has been custom fitted to the factory Boss flywheel to handle the increase in engine power/torque output yet maintains an easy clutch pressure for enjoyable drivability. An MSD ignition system has been installed but hidden below the battery tray and it's wiring blended in so it is virtually invisible. A Racing Quick Fuel 750cfm mechanical double pumper carb is hidden under the air cleaner. Power transfers from the very potent Boss motor to the bulletproof Ford 9" 3:91 posi rear end through a custom lightweight racing aluminium drive shaft. No detail was overlooked in making this the absolute best performing, reliable, & driving '70 Boss 302 possible while maintaining a visually stock appearance. This all comes together to make one exceedingly powerful and fast stock appearing BOSS 302 that is not for the faint of heart.

NON FUNCTIONING ITEM: The stock AM radio, I do not hear anything from the speaker when turned on. I have not looked into why as I would not listen to an AM radio any way as the solid lifter Boss 302 motor just sounds awesome and is what I enjoy hearing more.

INSPECTION: This is an older vehicle and many of the parts are original FoMoCo parts. While this vehicle is in excellent condition and shape for its age, it is not flawless or perfect. All warranties ran out a long time ago and this vehicle is "Sold As Is". I encourage you (or anyone one you choose on your behalf) to come see, inspect this vehicle in person during the auction run time. I can be very flexible as I am retired and willing to work with your schedule. I am confident that the first person who actually inspects and sees this Boss in person who is serious about buying the best top tier quality '70 Boss 302 obtainable at a fantastic price point will buy it as it is sure to highly impress even the pickiest of muscle car enthusiast. The pictures do not do it justice as seeing it and hearing it in real life is so much more impressive.

Parting thoughts: This is a lot of Muscle Car for a very low auction starting price. Boss 302s have always been and will continue to be coveted Top Tier Collector cars. I have seen plenty of B2s over the years on the market ranging from $90K to $130K and this one is either nicer or nearly as nice as most of those plus I guarantee they do not drive and perform like this one! To find a Boss of this caliber under $85K is nearly impossible. So don't miss your chance to obtain a truly outstanding / super original / virgin body / show worthy / super correct / super performing / 100% documented / REAL DEAL '70 BOSS 302 that is priced significantly below market value and certainly way below what you would spend to put one in this condition.
