1939 Ford Tudor Sedan Description:

Well-built hot rods at this price don't last long here at Streetside Classics, especially when they look so slick. This 1939 Ford Tudor Sedan has all the right ingredients wrapped in an all steel package that delivers a modern driving experience inside a vintage shape. Take a closer look while you can, because this one won't last long... The fastback shape of the tudor sedan is almost the ideal cruiser, with a spacious back seat and able... to accommodate all the creature comforts you'd need for a cross country trip. It's also incredibly handsome, with great proportions and that iconic 1938 Ford nose (remember that the Standard models used the previous year's Deluxe sheetmetal and trim) that endures decade after decade. Although Henry Ford was not a fan of red paint (his three favorite colors were black, black, and more black), mostly because it was expensive, this car sizzles in bright Coddington Red urethane. With professionally finished bodywork that offers good gaps and a great fitting hood, this is a driver-quality beauty that's ready to enjoy, despite being finished in 2000. Sure, it shows some age here and there, but it still presents very well and definitely turns heads on the sidewalks when it's cruising down the boulevard. A few original details remain, from the cool teardrop-shaped headlights with integrated turn signals, to the iconic taillights (which have been smoked) that you can find on just about every rod that ISN'T a 1939 Ford, but it also has some slick custom touches like the deleted bumpers, painted front grille, trim, and running boards, modern side mirrors, tinted windows, and shaved door handles and hood trim that all work together for an awesome custom look. No chopped top, no flames, no dated pinstripes, just a sleek original design complimented by quality workmanship and a few custom touches to bring it into the 21s century of hot-rodding. The interior certainly got a major makeover, starting with acres of custom-finished tan vinyl and tweed on just about every surface. Bucket seats up front allow easy access to the custom split-bench in back that has been neatly separated by a middle console that runs the length of the vehicle, so this is definitely hot-rodding, family style, although with such cool work you're going to be thinking twice about putting the kids in there. Neatly bound carpets and custom-made door panels mix luxury with custom design, and the headliner was finished to match the rest of the interior as well. The original dash is still there, heavily massaged without losing the spirit of the original, and now housing a full array of VDO gauges in a custom billet dash panel plus a modern A/C system that was cleverly integrated as if it always belonged. The four-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel sits atop a tilt column that makes it easy to do long-distance tours without getting tired. An AM/FM/CD/USB/AUX stereo system powers speakers throughout the cabin and certainly helps with the cruising and the way they've made the interior light up against the bright exterior gives it an upscale look that still looks and feels fresh years later, although it's not perfect and does show a few signs of age. This sleek fastback also offers reasonable trunk space, fully finished and complete with access panels, a spare tire and relocated battery. This rod is finished better than a lot of production cars, and that kind of work doesn't come cheap. The drivetrain moving all that steel is a 350 cubic inch V8 motor driving a TH350 3-speed automatic and a 10-bolt rear, a combination that has powered streetrods effectively and efficiently for decades. There's a lot of billet and chrome in the engine bay, matching the quality and details found throughout the rod, and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, an aluminum intake, and HEI system make sure it starts with ease and is very reliable. The updated front end uses a Corvair-style suspension with a power rack-and-pinion steering system and front disc brakes, so it tracks down the road like a cruise missile. The custom-fabricated Flowmaster dual exhaust system sounds awesome and it rides on a set of upgraded spring, shocks, and leaf springs in back, plus modern chrome wheels wearing 205/55/16 performance blackwall radials all-around. You know this gorgeous Ford is ready to enjoy, and it looks awesome. The paint and interior are real head-turners, and the mechanicals sound great and deliver impressive performance. This is a turnkey rod that's very aggressively priced. If you love fat fender all steel Fords, you can scarcely do better than this at this price-point. Call today!
