1928 Ford Model A Description:

"Dan Murphy did the majority of the construction of this car during a two-year period. It's a steel '28 Model A Pickup with several subtle changes that at first go unnoticed. A sheetmetal covering was fabricated for the top. The original setup was a vinyl covered top and sunvisor. Murphy fabricated the steel covering from a '63 Chevy top panel. Another major change was made to the rear section of the cab. The original center panel of the back had a small window and a number of stiffening ribs that Murphy felt was not as pleasing as a totally smooth area, so he built one. All of the bodywork and the cardinal red paint was done by Murphy. The steel body sits on a TCI Model A chassis. The front crossmember was reworked to accomplish the low stance. A 4-inch dropped Super Bell axle was used along with a stainless-steel four-bar setup. A Vega steering box was used and Wilwood disc brakes were fitted to all four corners. An all chrome and polished '68 Jag rearend handles the thrust from the 350 Chevy V8 that is backed by a Turbo 350. Murphy did the rebuild on the stock engine. It's topped by a polished Edelbrock manifold and four-barrel carburetor. Fire comes from a Mallory ignition and is routed through a homemade set of headers. The exhaust was fabricated from stainless steel. The owner also built a set of stainless-steel side fuel tanks to eliminate the cowl tank thus providing an 18-gallon capacity and more room under the dash." - Rod & Custom Magazine Feb '94 issue
