Up FOR SALE and reasonable price offers welcome (NO TRADES) is a very well kept unrestored 1968 Ford Galaxie XL Convertible boasts a factory 390cid v8 2bbl carb with factory optioned c6 xpl automatic transmission and correct 2.75 rear axle.
Retains a very dry body and untouched factory floors that are super clean for there age free of any apparent damage or rot. The body was refinished approximately ten years ago retaining it's factory soft yellow correct paint over super smooth body, door, trunk, hood and fender gaps are nice. The factory black interior is in very good condition along with a Crack free and supple dashboard. The convertible top is superb in condition, hydraulics work perfectly and are powerful, smooth 9 to 10 second operation up or down and has excellent rack alignment.
The 390 v8 fires up on all cylinders and purrs like lion, super smooth and cool running, one finger power steering the Galaxie literally rides on a cloud with a super soft,yet not spongy suspension. One of best riding convertibles I've driven in a long time. The C6 automatic transmission shifts beautifully and smooth when putting the v8 out on the road. Brakes and stops excellent with a nice factory power booster behind the master, the engine is detailed nicely for its age and looks fabulous.
The interior of the trunk shows excellent condition factory sheet metal with no evidence of historical damage. Factory seam sealer and undercoating is exposed on the inside quarters, very impressive. Vacuum headlights work excellent opening and closing, all lights, turn signals, tails and brake lights are operable and functional as they should. I can't say enough about this time capsule jewel that has not been molested and has had a great life under it's private ownership.
The chrome and brightwork on the entire car shows good but is not perfect as it is original, showing no damage on any of the bumpers mainly years of buff marks and light surface scratches yet still presents well.
