38,175 MILEAGE

1963 Ford Thunderbird Description:

The Thunderbird is largely credited with starting the "personal luxury car" market, and has done a good job of leading that segment through most of its life. Cars were updated and restyled frequently in the 60s, so this Bullet Nose design was only around for a few years. This '63 is a wonderful combination of unique styling and vintage luxury in a car with only 38,000 actual miles on it. Check it out. The styling on this car is unique and creative in so many ways making it one of the favorite versions of the Thunderbird in many enthusiast's books. This one is presented in Raven Black, which is a midlife respray of the original color and of course, black always looks good with chrome which appears to be all original on this car. Up front, the hood slopes down sharply toward the bumper that slopes up smoothly to meet it. The hood has the Thunderbird itself, rendered in Turquoise and silver on its leading edge. The chrome bumper wraps completely around a grill of vertical lines with quad headlights positioned on either side. There is a bold piece of chrome that starts in front of the headlights, running back along the upper edge of the body, creatively integrating the door handles, and doesn't stop until it reaches the afterburner style taillights. More Thunderbirds appear on the sail panels as well as one on the trunk underlined by another chrome bumper. Open the door and you will find a beautiful interior that was the epitome of personal luxury design in 1963. The vinyl has been nicely reupholstered in Red throughout the interior and the power operated front seats can be adjusted for comfortable cruising. The padding on the dash has also been refreshed while the rest of the interior is in nice survivor condition. Anodized aluminum flows seamlessly from the door panels and across the dash from each side, meeting in the middle and cascading down to form the center console where power window switches are at your fingertips and a padded console lid provides a nice armrest. A red three spoke steering wheel with a semi-circular chrome horn ring sits in front of a dash with three round gauges trimmed in chrome for the speedometer, engine functions and a clock. An AM/FM Thunderbird radio sits over the vents and ventilation controls that include air conditioning. Under the hood you will find a 390 cubic inch engine nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. It is completely stock and appears largely untouched. So, with the low miles on this car, it is most likely the original engine that came in the car. It is dressed in the correct gold paint with the air filter housing sporting a 390 cubic inch engine decal, and there are also gold valve covers with Thunderbird lettering embossed into them. Signs of good maintenance include belts and hoses that are newer as well as a fresh battery. There is a power steering pump and power brake booster to make driving this car a dream and '63 was the first year for an alternator to charge the battery instead of a generator. A 3-speed automatic transmission gets the power heading back to the wheels and the car rides on 215/75R14 white wall tires on steel wheels with center spin hubcaps. This is a low mileage, Bullet nosed Thunderbird that was the definition of a Personal Luxury car in 1963. It could be yours. Come on down and check it out. Take if for a ride. You may decide to make it yours and ride it on home.
