1978 Ford Bronco XLT Description:

You are looking at a no reserve auction on a 1978 Ford Bronco XLT. It runs and drives very well, and is in great overall condition. eBay only allows me to attach 24 pictures in their gallery, but I've hosted my own, and attached them to the body of this description. Please be sure to scroll down and view all of them, then you can read the complete, detailed description of the vehicle at the bottom!

This bodystyle of Bronco was only made for 2 years, 1978 & 1979, and the first production year for the full-size model. This one features the 400 cubic inch V8 and rugged C-6 automatic transmission. It's got exhaust headers for more power, but isn't loud, as it's breathing through dual flowmaster mufflers. The transmission shifts with no mushy-shifts whatsoever (I suspect it's been rebuilt with a performance kit, because the shifts are nice and firm). The carburetor is very responsive and doesn't stumble or hesitiate, even under full-throttle. The engine doesn't exhibit any ticks, knocks, or extra noises. The brakes work very well (factory discs in the front). It has power-steering & power-brakes. Also has cruise-control & factory air-conditioning (but I noticed the A/C belt is removed, so it probably needs some attention and a re-charge)... I've never tested the cruise to see if it still works. The body is nice and straight, as is the chrome and bumpers. It's an older re-paint, but is the factory original colors. It's showing some age in a few places, but is still quite presentable, and I get constant compliments on how nice the vehicle is. The windshield, doorglass and tailgate glass are all un-cracked, but both side windows on the removable topper have cracks (which aren't noticeable from the outside of the vehicle due to the window-tint, but they can be seen on the inside). I have included a pair of good side-windows wrapped in a blanket with the vehicle if someone wants to swap them out at a future time, but it's not something that's bothered me since it isn't noticeable from outside. The interior is in nice overall condition, but the original red-carpet is faded in the rear cargo-area (it's still pretty nice up front though). Also, the dash-pad is cracked, but those are available aftermarket brand new. The headliner is in nice shape, as are the door-panels and seats. The passenger side front-seat flips all the way forward for rear-passenger entry. There are aluminum steps as well, to aid in getting up into the truck, as it sits up fairly high with the lift kit and larger tires. There's VERY little rust on the vehicle as you can see from the pictures. It's extremely solid, but there is just a little bit of bubbling starting to form around the driver's side rear wheelwell, and some rust through on the bottom of the tailgate. I have a brand new tailgate that I could potentially include with the vehicle if that were going to make or break the deal. A person has to help the power-window on the rear tailgate up and down by hand a little, as the old electric motor is getting weak (and the track mechanism could probably stand to be greased up). The oil-pressure tube that runs to one of the aftermarket gauges under the dash broke, so it's just being pinched off with a pair of vice-grips so that it doesn't leak. I don't think there's anything else to apologize for. The tires still have about 50 percent tread remaining. The headlights, taillights, brake-lights and turn-signals work, it's got a nice-sounding stereo in it with 6x9 speakers (also all the wiring is already run the rear for an amplifier and subwoofers if that's your thing). The horn works, and the steering column has tilt. If anyone has any further questions, feel free to ask.
I welcome anyone to come check out the vehicle, and take a test-drive before bidding. It really sells itself. I'd be willing to take it to any mechanic or body shop in Mason City, Iowa (where I live), and have an independent inspection done (at your arrangement and cost) if you would feel more comfortable with that, but only BEFORE the auction has ended. A google-search would bring up the various shops around here... there are many. By bidding on, or otherwise agreeing to purchase this vehicle, buyer acknowledges that it is being sold as-is with no warranty. That being said... I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere in the Country at a moment's notice, though! It's a good old truck, and very reliable.
I always prefer cash-in-person, but if you intend to have this vehicle shipped with an auto transporter, I'll take a cashier's check or bank wire-transfer for payment. I recommend Atlas Auto Shippers (888) 285-2706. I've used them a lot over the years, and they can get you a quote right over the phone. Also, there are many other shippers online who might come in a little cheaper if you wanna shop around, but Atlas is usually pretty competetive on price. I've got a good, clear title for it in my name, and would be happy to send copies of front and back sides of it to the buyer prior to any funds being exchanged. Thanks for looking!
