1965 Ford Mustang Convertible Description:
This is a early 1965 Mustang Convertible- of course known as the 1964 1/2 ( Early production run began April 17 1964 - this car was produced June 8th 1964 - just 52 days into production of one of the most iconic cars in American history) . This is the one you want. Factory 4 bbl D code 289 V-8 and the very fun 4 speed. Lots of recent work on the car - brakes, gas tank, brake lines, master cylinder, exhaust. Pretty rare valuable car that you can work on and have fun with driving with the top down. Free and clear North Carolina title matching the VIN on the inner fenderand data tag. Note no back up lights- that was a option only in the 64 1/2 production run- The original owner opted to not spend the $10.70 for that option! 1964 1/2's were the last to use the generator and this car still has that feature that helps keep the battery charged!
The paint is shiny and sharp looking - See the video below showing a complete walk around of the car- very presentable newer paint but not high dollar - itis a single stage paint . As noted above and seen in the video there is some floor pan rust - very good original frame rails - so a solid foundation. notice in the video the edges of the front floors are the main repair area needed- If you view the video you will see the structure of this car is quite good and solid..The car is drivable as it is right now, but due to the long term storage expect to continue to do work to bring it up to the level you would expect to drive. Power top can be heard operating, but we believe ithas a leak so expect to replace the lines and or the cylinders. The blacktop itself and the rear window are in good serviceable shapeI know the front turn signals are not working - or hooked up yet. The speedometer does work, but interior lights are not operating, headlights do work, so expect to do some work to bring this up to a level to drive with lights and signals.
This is a neat car that it is a real D code 289 1964 1/2 car thatcame with the factory 4 speed. So it is worth the time to keep improving it. The car is one you can work on a drive. Both videos below were taken 7/21/18 by me and I narrated them. The owner ismy friend and he is driving the car.
