Starts, runs, drives, shifts and stops like a good old truck. I cruise it down the highway at 60 to 70 mph with confidence and no worries.
It has been freshened up under the hood. Engine, components, inner fenders, hood hinges, radiator support, etc. The engine does have a couple of small oil leaks. It's the original engine - 50 years old. Odometer reads 76k miles. May be 176k. I cannot confirm or deny the actual mileage but this truck runs and drives nice and smooth and has good power.
This is really nice patina truck. The blue sections of the body exterior and the inside of the bed (except bed floor) have been sanded and clear coated to preserve the look.Only rust is 2 areas in the bed floor and a tiny spot on the passenger floor near the kick panel. It is tiny. All trim, reflectors and badges are present except for the small corner piece on the passenger side between the door and the bed. Added hood ornaments compliment the vintage patina look of this truck.
Things that are not working: Dash lights, temperature and oil gauges, no horn.
Things that are working: Fuel gauge, wipers, turn signals, headlights (hi-beam & lo-beam), tail lights, brake lights, running lights, dome light, license plate lights, lighter, original AM radio, heater and defrost. Has an aftermarket temperature gauge which works. Truck runs cool at about 180 degrees.
Manual steering is tight. No sloppiness going down the road. Brakes are manual and in good working order. Has new brake lines up front. Emergency brake also works. Has brand new correct white wall tires 235/75R15 with an excellent stance. Truck sits nice and square on the ground. Original hub caps and spare tire below.
Interior has original door panels, headliner, sun visors and dash pad (crack in the center). Carpet, seat upholstery, arm rests and door sills are new. Doors open and close effortlessly. Windows crank up down and back well. Windshield has some typical fogging on the bottom edge and 2 small chips. Rear window glass is good but the seal is weathered, however, it does not leak. Original West Coast Junior side mirrors.
Overall the truck is very clean and draws compliments all the time. Good to go as she sits or a perfect candidate to take to a higher level. I have taken the time and effort to describe this truck honestly and transparently, covering "the good, the bad and the ugly". No, it is not perfect. It is not restored either, but rather preserved. Just a good old honest truck. Very original and stock. Clean North Carolina Title.
