You are bidding on an extremely nice and original example of a 1986 Mustang SVO. I purchased this car from the original owner in Columbus, Ohio. It has been in my small collection of Fords & Mercury’s for the past 30 years. I purchased it with the intentionof driving it minimal on the weekends. As it worked out, I only enjoyed it to the tune of about 500 miles a year since owning. It has never been raced or abused and I have taken very good care of it with any needed service work, oil changes every year, and so on. This Mustang SVO has never been in an accident, or damaged/repaired in any way. It wears 95% of its original paint, interior, underhood, undercarriage details. Dealership took delivery of car and had some oil marks from the traveler truck. The entire exhaust system is original minus the two mufflers. Both mufflers developed cracks in the inlet pipe welds. The car was undercoated when new at the Ford Dealership.

Black with Charcoal fabric Interior, Charcoal carpeting, 2.3 liter inline 4-cylinder Turbocharged engine, 5-Speed manual transmission, 1,400 miles from new. Final production year model and one of only 1,031 examples produced in Black for 1986.

The interior is basically new condition other than a new headliner put in. The dash, dash pad, gauges, steering wheel, seat upholstery, door panels, AND EVERYTHING ELSE is just simply amazing and in like-new condition. All weather-strips are just in incredibly nice throughout the car, and still soft and pliable on all surfaces.

The engine compartment, underside, and trunk are all completely untouched/unmodified/unrestored. It retains all most all original components, original part number tags, chalk markings, paint markings, zinc, phosphate and other platings, etc, are all still as delivered/built. For the age of the car and low mileage, it does have some small chips on the front & very small Stone chips on the lower side.

The original VIN tag is in place on the LH side windshield/dash pad area as are all the original VIN/stickers on the LH door. Vehicle has a clear, lien-free Ohio title which will be transferred in the next owners name.

The current tires were replaced a few years ago with Firestone Firehawk Oval “Indy 500” 225/50R/16Directional 92W tires. I still have the original Goodyear Gatorback 225/50/16 V rated Directional tires on the original wheels.

LITTLE BACK HISTORY -

The Mustang SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) was the creation of a special development team in 1980. Ford announced formation of SVO under Michael Kranefuss, who was the competition director for Ford Europe and was developing a racing program based on a turbocharged4-cylinder concept. The Mustang SVO was a limited-production version of the Ford Mustang sold from 1984 to 1986. During which time, it was one of the fastest as well as the most expensive version of the Mustang available, although a departure both physically and mechanically from any prior version of the Mustang While the Mustang SVO was only produced for 3 years, it has been said that the SVO was the best handling Mustang ever produced – this example presents as new with only 1,400 original miles and is a final year model with Cloth Seats and Flip-up roof options. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a 1980’s American performance icon that will be a welcome addition to any collection.
