1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Description:

Up for auction is my wife's 70 Mustang Mach1 which we have a clear title in our safe. It was a 5 year restoration completed in 2010 for her 25th wedding anniversary present from me. This is a H code 2 barrel 351 Cleveland car/ She is not a hot rodder so we modified it to suit her safety and reliability needs. This car is no trailer queen, she drives it to all but one show, 5 times to the heartland Goodguys show in Des Moines, Ia. once to the rte 66 car show in Illinois all the car shows we entered in Missouri including Shelbyfest in Jefferson City. The only one we trailered it to and that was because of storms was the 2017 Woodward Dream cruise where we were invited to bring the car to the Ford proving grounds and take it on the test track reaching over 100 MPH. Now we are selling it as it takes more work to keep a car this nice than I can do at my age so she is moving up to a newer model Mustang. Ok now on to the specifics of the car.
Body: All 4 side panels replaced along with battery tray, front valance, doors, both rear quarters, outer wheel houses, complete trunk floor with a Tank Armor cover installed over gas tank, rear valance, rear subframes repaired, frame connectors installed, floors and torque boxes were fine.
Wiring: Complete Painless Mustang chassis wiring harness with updated colored fuse box and auxiliary fuse box, Painless H4 headlights were installed. Everything works but the horn just recently quit and we have power up to the column wire connector but the wiring in the original column is original so I've been waiting for IDIDIT to come out with a tilt column for the 70 model. Wife just uses her middle finger.
Engine is the original 351 Cleveland that came with the car from the factory numbers down by starter DOAE-L ( OF4 )with some upgrades, MSD ignition 6A box, original distributor rebuilt with new bearings and MSD trigger, FPA headers coated inside and out, Red top battery is a little over one year old, Edelbrock aluminum high flow water pump, Griffin aluminum radiator, Mr. Gasket dual electric fans one runs full time while the other is set at 185 degrees to come on. The shaker assembly was added not original to car and is a original Ford shaker not a aftermarket.
Transmission: Built by PATC performance transmissions, it's a later 80's Mustang AOD with better servos and heavier duty clutches to handle up to 550 HP. just in case we wanted to stroke the 351. It has a firm shift which we like, I was told by PATC if we wanted to smooth the shifts out just re-adjust the TV cable but they didn't recommend that as then you are slipping the clutches and could cause premature wear. The trans came with a 2500 stall convertor, we added a B&M trans cooler.
Rearend: Was a open 3.00:1 and now is a limited slip 3.55:1 which works perfect with the AOD. At 70 mph the engine is running at 2200 rpm with fuel consumption on the highway at it's best 20.5 mpg. The car has almost 9K miles since restoration and most are highway miles.
Exhaust: Flowmaster dual Super 44s with a "H" pipes and Mach1 chrome tips.
Brakes: Fronts are new original Ford disc brakes while the back is SSBC rear disc conversion with a adjustable proportioning valve under the hood by master cylinder.
Suspension: Rear springs are new and fronts are original with new upper and lower control arms and Moog bushings, steering components are new except steering box and pump. KYB shocks on all four corners.
Interior: Was Ginger but black looked better so we went that route, A/C is all new except lines and compressor, was R-12 but lost my source so now it's R-12a and it works most of the time, once in a while the clutch doesn't want to kick in until I mess with the connector at the compressor, if it doesn't sell I'm planning on having the R-12a removed then replacing the compressor and lines with a new Sanderson one for R-134a. Gauges are Autometers and clocked was refaced in white to match, has the fold down seat with trap door to trunk, headliner is new along with carpet and seats have been recovered, shifter assembly rebuilt, console has black 69 plate so we could add cup holders original woodgrain 70 is in box of spare parts. Stereo is a Alpine AM/FM/CD with USB adapter for phone, no I did not cut up a original plastic stereo face plate the previous owner did and it broke getting it out so I ordered a aluminum one made for this car and to accept a newer stereo and has the woodgrain installed, it holds the stereo much better than the original plastic one, also has a Alpine 100 watt power amp and Sony subwoofer mounted in the trunk.
Tires and Wheels: The front are 14" Magnum 500 with B.F. Goodrich T/A tires, rears are 15" Magnums with B.F. Goodrich T/A tires all four are a year old, 2 spare 14" Magnum 500 rims with B.F. Goodrich tires come with the car but the tires are old but with good tread for use as spares only.
Spare Parts: 2 tires and rims already mentioned, Edelbrock aluminum intake for 2 barrel heads to use a 4 barrel carb, spare rear carpet, extra pair of rear disc calibers (new), a box of miscellaneous parts.
Now for the nitpicking in me and I want to be honest, here are the boo boos from driving the car to other states and car shows and just using it for 8 years. Horn quit as already mentioned, passenger door needs new bushings which I have with tnew pins and I think they went bad because I might have installed them upside down which would have caused prematiure wear as the drivers door is fine but on the drivers side the interior light button keeps sticking in and doesn't turn on the lights unless you push it with your thumb and release then the interior lights come on I do have spares of those, on both quarter panels just above the wheel openings are a small dent caused by finding people leaning on the car at car shows when we are not around, if I didn't tell you it would be hard to even notice them but a paintless dent removal company could pop them out but like I said I'm not getting younger and I'm tired of trying to keep it perfect so it must find someone who has more energy than me and loves the car. It has won many trophies but I didn't do the car for that reason it was for my wife who has had 4 of them.
Car is sold as is, $500 deposit through paypal when auction ends and remainder when car is picked up with either cash / cashiers check / wire transfer. Look at pictures and if concerned have it inspected before bidding. My reserve is far below the appraisal due to the few little thing the car needs to make it perfect but don't ask because I won't say just bid to find out. Car must be picked up within 7 days of auctions end and I can assist with locating. Thanks for looking.
