1938 Ford Pickup Rat Rod Gasser

1937 Ford Other Pickups Description:

Project truck built as a traditional 60s Drag Racer or Gasser.

Chassis:

Built on a 1937 Ford truck frame; 39-40 Ford front axle and split wishbones, front and rear axles have transverse leaf springs. Mid 60s Pontiac Posi-trac (tag) rear axle with ladder bars and 12" brakes. The frame has been boxed, however still needs finished.

Brake components are all there, front and rear, but need gone through. New power booster w/under floor master cyl that has been bench bled. Front wheels are 15" early Ford steel with New Coker bias ply - Rear wheels are 15" GM steel with Vintage NOS Foremost AFX Drag slicks. Mustang steering box connected to a 1968 Camaro steering column. New wiring harness installed.

Motor/Trans:

1970s Ford 390FE truck motor w/ new distributor, new freeze plugs installed, new motor mounts, coupled with a brand new Hughes C6 transmission and new AZ Diff driveshaft. New water pump and oil pan, Hooker headers, new mufflers and new carb. Electric fan, new chrome alternator, new aluminum radiator, new aluminum trans cooler.

Body:

The cab is a 1938 Ford that has been chopped and the floor channeled. Perimeter of cab floor has been reinforced with box tubing.

The cab itself is in great condition, bottom of the passenger door has some rust. Glove box door has old school gauges installed; rear window garnish molding and windshield frame were chopped. New green tinted safety glass installed on front/rear windows. Windshield cranks out. Grill is from a 1936 Ford truck. Bed is a 1936 shortened about 8 inches, has the original Ford script tailgate and hinges.

Newer truck bed floor installed; aluminum cylinder gas tank installed with an electric fuel pump. Truck comes with a bunch of other vintage parts as well including a full set of vintage Sun Gauges with a Stewart Warner speedo, old school gasser steering wheel, old Ford headlights and a bunch of other stuff. Newly recovered 1968 Camaro bucket seats with early Ford seat belts installed. Pleated black interior installed.

So if you are looking for a traditional Hot rod project, here it is - still needs some minor finishing, but an awesome start that looks right and has a lot of Vintage hard to find parts. Truck has a CLEAR AZ Title. Runs just fine, check the video.
