1949 Ford Other Pickups Description:

1949 Mercury M47 Half Ton Short Bed Pickup Truck. Remarkably original and rust free truck. A very good candidate for a full restoration. Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder.
This Mercury M47 was purchased from an elderly gentleman that had began the restoration and decided he just doesn't have the time to complete it. All parts are present and it is a great place to start for the new owner. It was a running truck before he started the disassembly 2 years ago.
It has a very solid rust free body for one of these 48-50 Mercury trucks. The floorboards are completely solid with no rust through. There is a little rust in the front fenders where they meet the running boards but this is about all that I can find on the body. The cab corners and where the upper and lower front fenders meet are very good which is unusual to see. There are very few farm work related dents which makes a refreshing change for one of these old trucks. It has a very nice sun visor. The Mercury specific tailgate and emblems are all present. The Mercury specific grille is in very nice shape as are the Mercury specific running lights. These are usually beat up and broken and not re-produced. The door glass and windshield are in good condition with no cracks but the rear window is cracked. Overall this is likely the most rust free and straightest body you'll find on a Half Ton 48-50 Mercury pickup truck due to few surviving in the harsh northern climate.
The interior is complete and in respectable condition for its age. The Mercury specific horn button is present. The plastic Mercury emblem on the dash is not cracked like they often are which is good as these are not re-produced. The key is still in the ignition.
Mechanically this truck is complete but has been dissambled. There is nothing missing. Everything has been properly stored. The block has been stripped and cleaned ready for reassembly. The radiator is in excellent shape. The carburetor has been rebuilt. There are many extra parts also included. It will make a very rewarding project for the new owner.
Due to the much smaller Canadian market, Ford of Canada only sold approximately one tenth as many trucks as Ford did in the US and around two thirds of those were Ford's leaving the remaining third to be Mercury's. So very few of these trucks where produced and it is becoming much harder for us to source nice original and complete examples such as this. Due to Canada's harsh climate only a handful remain today.
This will make a great project and is a far nicer starting point than many of the barn finds that we sell. Seldom do we find half ton trucks of this era in such solid shape. Bid with confidence and feel free to message with any questions. Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder.
If you would like a shipping quote please message us. We can assist in arranging shipping for you as we have several reliable contacts that we have used before many times to ship our vehicles all over the country and they are all very familiar with loading and hauling this type of vehicle.

who we are and what we do

We are two brothersthat seek out original trucks and cars fromall acrossCanada specializing in vehicles from the 40s, 50s and 60s.

We started heading North to source these vehicles several years ago due to the severe lack of such vehicles in the US in recent times due to our huge car culture. Most American barn finds have long been found and tampered with by several owners yet North of the border there still seems to be an abundance of good solid original vehicles waiting to be brought back to life.

We make these great vehicles available to the US market by importing them into the US and providing all required paperwork to acquire a Clear US Title in your own name in your home State.

We also specialize insourcing Mercuryand Fargo trucks and have successfully imported and found new homes for dozens of fine original examples.

We are passionate about finding the best thatthere is and understand that our customers want to see automobiles that have not been tampered with; the more original, the better.

Our inventory is regularly updated, as new finds are unearthed. If there is something specific that you are looking for, then let us know and we'd be happy to see if we can help.

The business we conduct is straightforward and honest. Whether you're looking for something that'sall original, a starting point for a restoration project orsolid bones for a custom build, Bison Brothers will deliver.
