1964 Galaxie

1964 Ford Galaxie XL Description:

I'm selling my 64 Galaxie XL 2 door fastback. It was supposed to be a first car for my son, but after he started driving, he changed his mind, so now it needs a new home.
I'm the 3rd owner, a professor from UCLA bought it new, then moved to OSU in 1969 to teach, then Maryland University before returning to the Central Valley and selling to the woman I bought it from. She loved the car but when she realized she was not able to fix it up, she sold it.
Despite its travels across the country, it was exceptionally solid, only surface rust was found, no cancer anywhere. It was in rough shape, but complete, I tried to retain as many original parts as possible, or replace with good used parts off other 64's.
The engine runs great, I flushed the engine, and added Marvel Mystery oil with the new oil and filter. I flushed the trans and refilled with new trans fluid and Lucas transmission additive and it shifts great. It has new paint, new interior, new tires, new water pump, the original mufflers were rotted to pieces so I added a pair of cherry bombs I had laying around to give it a classic 60's sound.
It appears to have factory A/C, or dealer added, it's all there, but I have not tried to see if it works, the unit blows air though so the hang down is working. It's a 352 4v with automatic and power steering. Original color is Skylight Blue with Medium Blue interior, I had the paint shop get as close as possible to that color, but add the white top for a classy touch, and the interior shop did a beautiful job matching.
New front and rear windshield rubber installed, new headliner, new dome lights, new carpet, new dash light bulbs, LED dome light bulbs, as well as some factory type replacement stickers for engine bay from a previous project I had. Dash pad needs replacing, package tray needs repair or replacing, both are fairly inexpensive, or can probably be covered in new material.
All in all, it's not perfect, but needs very little to be a great daily driver, or with a little investment, you can have a very nice car worth every penny that you put in it and more.
