Up for sale is an amazing 1976 Ford F-250 XLT Ranger 4x4 High Boy pickup truck. This truck is still one of the best-looking trucks on the road after all these years. It is in exceptionally well-maintained mechanical condition, as well as being very straight, with no presentation of rust. The truck still wears original paint, so you can see exactly what’s going on. Details as follows:

1976 Ford F-250 Ranger XLT 4x4 factory High Boy wearing original Raven Black paint and restored Bright Red interior; a beautiful and rare color combination, and my personal favorite. I should note right now that if someone prefers a black interior, I can swap out this new upholstery for the same in black at no cost (I own a classic auto restoration shop and have an in-house Upholstery division). This rare truck is loaded with the hard-to-find XLT Ranger trim package, including the lower side trim and fancy tailgate trim. The truck is an easy driver with power-assist steering and power front disc brakes.

The paint remains in very good and shiny condition as you can see, and has just been treated to a professional buff and polish... she looks great! The truck is as straight as you might find anywhere, with only minor dings and small scratches. Very straight original body panels, good glass throughout, excellent original chrome front bumper and chrome rear step bumper. It has niceRangerXLT stainless side molding trim, Ranger bright windshield trim, bright cab drip rail trim, fancy year-specific Ranger XLT stainless tailgate panel, beautifully restored front grills, new rear tail lamp bezels, and more. The bed is solid as well, without rust issues, and having a still-nice spray-in bed liner. There were very minor rust perforations in the lower door corner seams that I addressed with POR15, SEM seam sealer, and touch-up paint. Only previously seen from the inside, the repair would likely go unnoticed if I hadn’t mentioned it. That was the only rust I could find anywhere. I stripped the interior prior to restoration, and the floors are perfect.

The odometer shows 97k original and the second owner (past 26 years) stated the miles are original and accurate. I was told by the second owner (who has owned it for 26 years) that her husband pulled the original low-power 360 2v engine, and purchased a built 1967 428 Police Interceptor engine, and installed it in the truck 20+ years ago with ~ 60,000 miles on the odometer. The engine block casting number is C6ME-A, the date code is 7M20 (December 20, 1967), and the heads are 8-bolt exhaust C8AE-H castings. All the above are consistent with a ‘67/’68 passenger car Police Interceptor 428 engine. I have no reason to doubt that this is exactly what the engine is, as the external evidence supports the story. I have owned many 428-equipped vehicles over the years and I am convinced by the external evidence, torque, power, etc. That said, as FE guys know, the only way to definitively delineate between a 390 and a 428 is to verify the crank/stroke; technically it could be either, and I can't say definitively which. What I can say definitively is that it is a killer 390 or 428 4v powerhouse from Ford's best performance era. It has an Edelbrock aluminum intake and Edelbrock 4v carburetor, fresh tune-up parts, fresh oil and filter, etc.It runs great, and is very powerful and smooth.

The original Ford steel wheels have been sandblasted and powder-coated to as-new condition. Then tires are in good condition, appearing to have about 50-60% tread remaining. The truck drives extremely well, and tracks straight down the road. She steers easily with factory optional power-assist steering, and brakes well with the late ’76 front power disc brake option. In summary, the truck is a real pleasure to drive.

The wheel wells, axles, hubs, drivelines, etc. have been cleaned, painted, and restored/detailed so as not to detract from the beauty of the truck. The shocks were just upgraded to new Rancho RS5000’s all around, and the rear springs feature an air bag “helper” for heavy loads and towing. There is also a receiver hitch and trailer receptacle under the rear chrome step bumper.

The factory Bright Red interior is freshly restored and features new carpet, new door sill plates, new 4x4 selector boot, new seat upholstery, new matching headliner, new door pocket trim, new door panels, restored visors, and new dash cover. The balance of the interior is otherwise in overall very nice original condition, with a nice dash bezel, gauges in working order, working, turn signals, wipers, heater, etc.

This is fantastic original classic High Boy you can climb in and enjoy exactly as-is.

Clear title in hand, matches VIN exactly for inspection, export, etc.
