This is an original Wimbledon White 289 4V Top Loader 4 speed car. The engine has been updated to a fresh rebuilt 302 with engine build sheet available. The original Top Loader 4 Speed manual is still in place behind the 302. The rear axle original 3.00:1 ratio was replaced with a newly rebuilt early 1967 Nine Inch 3.50:1 Posi. The original 289 engine is no longer with the car or available. The restoration process has been started with many hours in labor and money spent so far.The car is currently in primer ready for guide coat, blocking, and final stages before painting. The car was painted red at some point years ago and is in the process of being put back to the original white. This is a true A code fastback that was born with a 289 4 barrel 225hp engine and manual 4 speed top loader transmission. If you know the history of Carroll Shelby selecting the candidates for his few 1965 GT350 cars then you know that he only chose factory Wimbledon White fastbacks with 289 V8 engines and manual 4 speed transmissions for the builds.
This car is 100% rust free and dry. Would be a great pro touring resto or GT350 clone.
The engine starts right up and runs great. The Top Loader 4 speed transmission works but is difficult to change gears. It looks to need a shift rebuild kit with springs and ball to allow shifter to work correctly and smooth. Most all parts and trim are with the car. There is no hood for the car. The front seats appear to be from a 1970 Mustang.
Car includes some Shelby items and parts.
