1974 Dodge Other Pickups Description:

This is an outstanding 1974 Dodge Adventurer pickup. It has been in Arizona since new and has never seen salt. It is solid as a rock and there are no squeaks or rattles even on a gravel road. I bought this from a very dear friend of mine about ten years ago and I believe he was the original owner. He was kind of peculiar about taking care of his cars, so much so that he took all of the stainless trim and grill off of the truck and wrapped it in bubble wrap and stashed it in his attic. He always had the oil changed and kept it in excellent condition. He had some historic race cars and would use this with the big 440 motor to haul his cars to the races. It has some sort of wumpitty wump cam in it and a beefed up shift kit in the transmission. There are aftermarket gauges under the dash for oil pressure and temperature. He put on headers and complete dual exhaust to the right rear quarter panel. It sounds like Heaven. Not at all obnoxious, but lets people know this has some serious grunt to the pavement. There is a very stout rear step bumper and just because he might need it someday it has a frame mounted receiver hitch mounted underneath. I don't know if he had the suspension modified at all but it handles like a slot car. It is a wonderful truck but in ten years I have only put a few thousand miles on it. It is dependable as a Swiss watch and has never stumbled as long as I've owned it. The body was near perfect when I got it. There was one small dent on the edge of the "birdbath" hood and that was properly worked out and not just filled with putty. The rest of the truck is in excellent condition. The bed has had bed-liner in it since new and has no dents or dings to speak of. All of the doors shut like a vault and the windows work effortlessly. The glove box door has one crack that has been filled and the liner is great. The rest of the interior is as nice as you could expect a 45 year old truck to be. There is a hole cut in the extreme left side of the instrument cluster for an auxiliary gauge, but I don't know what he had there. I suppose you could put a small tachometer there, but I've never seen the wisdom of a tach with an automatic. I installed new leather seats with suede inserts and a console from a new Town and Country. They are very comfortable and look great. The console could hold a couple of six packs if you were so inclined. There also is a new audio unit in it with ISP input and CD, 5 band AM/FM, Bluetooth, remote control, and a phone. Don't ask me how it works, I have all of the instructions with it. It also has a automatic power antennae. This has new Falken Ziex tires on it and rides as smooth as glass. The suspension is tight as a tick and there is no steering vagueness. It drive right where you point it. It has highway gears and is very happy cruising at 70 or 80 MPH. I run it on regular gas and have had any trouble. It runs cool even In Arizona extreme heat and the oil pressure is pegged on 80 when cold and settles down to 30 or so once warmed up. All of the lights and turn signals work as they should and it has a 10 pin socket for the trailer. Since I've owned it I've replaced things as needed. It has a new Edelbrock 4 bbl, new fuel pump, new voltage regulator, new ignition module, new heater valve, new hoses and belts, tires, brakes, synthetic grease on wheel bearings, new windshield, and other just general maintenance items. I collect old cars and I don't see much reward in just patching things up. I like to fix them right then forget about them for 10 years. This truck needs a fuel sending unit. Since I don't put many miles on it, I haven't bothered to do this. If I go on an extended trip, I just put a gas can in the back and go. I've never had to use it. These are available new and readily accessible. This has an extra start switch that was installed way back when everybody was worried about car alarms. It works great and it does confuse people when they first start it. It has one key for everything. This has the remote hood latch and some beefy tie downs in the bed. The more I drive this truck, the more I think I should keep it. I was recently shamed about having so many nice cars sitting around and my garage space is limited so I will let go of a few of my favorites. This is a nice truck. It is ready to go to a show or use it as it was intended. I would hop in it now and drive to Alaska. I'm not giving it away, but if you think you can build a beater into one like this for less money, you're dreaming. Cheap is good, but good ain't cheap.I have a clear Arizona title and the plates are good until 2023. I'll leave them on the truck. I need half of the winning bid within five days and the balance paid in ten days. No Nigerian princes, No third party checks from Venezuela. No Pay-Pal. The payment must clear my bank before the truck leaves my possession. This is a zero rust Arizona truck that is as clean underneath as it is on top. No drips, no leaks, just good old original American iron.
