1971 Dodge Charger 500 Description:

EDIT: I have checked the partial VIN tags on both engine block and transmission housing and they match this car and so are original to it (very hard to get to under the car so I was not able to take a legible picture). I have also now uploaded a picture of the fender tag.
For sale is a 1971 Dodge Charger 500, unrestored, original condition. I bought this car in 2013 and the story as I know it is that I'm the third owner, and it was in a garage from 1985 to 2013 (when I bought it). It isn't a pristine restoration but is an original car, still has the factory paint (with some door dings and fading that shows it's half a century old), the odometer reads 75,xxx which I believe is true mileage. 318 CI V8 engine has never been rebuilt and runs strong.
Work done on the car in the time I've owned it:
- All new front end mechanicals (tie rod ends, ball joints, power steering gearbox, idler arm)
- rebuilt carb (still have the original as well)
- new trunk liner (the original had literally disintegrated)
Known issues with the car:
- rear windshield seal is shot, and it should not be driven in the rain as it'll leak straight into the trunk. Despite this, trunk has no rust (as you can see in the pics) because it was garaged for so long and hasn't been in the rain since.
- radio doesn't work
- original driver's seat is a bit torn (see pictures)
- AC system is original and won't hold a charge. Works well when charged up but goes dead after a couple months.
The body of the car contains only very light speckling of surface rust underneath, with no structural rust or cancer whatsoever. Wheel wells and quarter panels are 100% intact. No body work is required.
Hagerty has the car insured with a write-off value of $14,000 and so I'm reluctant to take much less than my asking price. I love the car dearly and it's hard to part with, I'm just trying to downsize a bit. Clean title in hand and test drives for serious buyers only.
