In 1957 the Custom Royal was the absolute top of the line Dodge and the D-500designation further rarified the air by dropping in a 325 cubic inch Hemi with a carter 4-barrel carburetor.with 285 horse power,once the D-500 option checked the heavy dut, push-button TorqueFlite automatic transmission was installed by default.The D-500 option also included a true dual exhaust system,a heavy-duty air cleaner,and heavy-duty dual point distributor. Big news for the 1957was the all new Torsion-aire suspension: an independent system torsion bar system that included "anti-dip" upper and lower control arm, shock absorbers and anti-rollbar. complementing the front was a rear leaf-spring suspension with shock absorbers. Each of 2.50-inch wide five leaf springs measured 55 inches in length and the rear differential was mounted forward of center to reduce spring wind-up during hard acceleration. This beautiful and rare piece of Chryslers Hemi powered history has been lovingly maintained and is ready to show or drive!!
