1982 DeLorean DMC 12 Stainless Steel Description:
1982 5 speed, Gray interior, Stage II PVR V6 engine upgrade (3rdowner of the car)
Has a Stainless Steel Frame. 1 of 12 from Pearce known to exist. (original cars have steel frames). Rich Weissensel (famous DeLorean owner) had it and never installed it, I bought it from him.
Upgraded suspension. Car stance is lower than standard
Upgraded wheels and tires. Low profile 17's and 16's (I still have the originals as well and they're in excellent condition).
SS exhaust system.
Lots of added SS accents (from aftermarket sources, lettering, door trim, coolant bottle, brake lines, shift knob, etc.)
Upgraded Tail light panels, updated headlights, running lights, etc
170 m.p.h. speedometer (original could only be 85 mph by law back then)
Upgraded Engine cooling system fans
Rebuilt the fuse box
Upgraded speakers (still has original radio)
Convex heated mirrors (makes it easy to see behind you)
Anti-theft fuel kill switch
Transmission was rebuilt in 2008
DeLorean car cover
Car was completely checked and gone through at DeLorean Midwest in Chicago 2011 (whom upgraded the engine)
I have the records of pretty much everything that was ever bought or done to the car for the last 20 years.
Car starts and runs well, AC works (needs recharged about once a year), I drive it about 500-1000 miles per year on average.
Selling only because I have enjoyed it for several years and would like to move on to another car to own and enjoy, not because of any faults or needs to this car.
The car is a show stopper over the original. Only DeLorean Cars that get more attention are the ones with the BTTF (Back to the Future) conversion at an event. Happy to answer any questions.
(if you're a first time buyer, you want to buy a DeLorean car that has been driven routinely. Super low mileage cars will need work to be reliable. When I bought mine I was told any car you find for under $20k will need another $25k put into it. I went above and beyond in some areas (frame, engine), but it is about right if comparing this to others for sale. This car can be enjoyed right away.)
