1971 DATSUN 521 PICKUP
1971 Datsun Pickup PL521 Description:
I have owned this pickup since 2017. I have rehabilitated several Datsuns mostly Z series but have always wanted a mini pickup. This is my current project that I purchased in California. It is virtually rust free with only minor surface rust mostly on the undercarriage. The prior owner inherited it from a family member who was the original owner. He took meticulous care of it and replaced the original motor and upgraded to disc brakes on all four wheels. He also removed the bed and repainted the truck the original Teal Blue color and rust proofed the undercarriage. He fabricated the stainless steel cargo racks, rear bumper and tail light surrounds. I have made many improvements as well including a new weber carb, electric fuel pump, tachometer, electronic ignition, radiator, repaired heater, replaced window guides, felt and wing window seals. Engine runs great and I have not had to add any oil since I have owned it. The valves have been adjusted. The prior owner replaced clutch and release bearing. The tranny shifts fine and does not pop out of any gear. I replaced the tail shaft seal and the steering box seal. There are very minor drips but any leaks have been repaired and seals replaced. I replaced the headliner and recovered door panels and repainted interior trim and dash board. All interior gauge lights were replaced with LED's. I replaced the after market turn signal control with original and replaced GM steering wheel with a Datsun wheel (so wrong!). The tires are new with very few miles and new shocks. Bench seat is in fairly good condition but does need new carpet. Everything works including windshield washer. There is no AC but heater works great and the original AM radio works fine too. The odometer shows 79,000 but I am assuming it has turned over at least once. I have some spare parts, an original owners manual and a Clymer Repair Manual. I have receipts for everything that I did. I have sold 2 240Z's and a 260Z on ebay with excellent feedback from those buyers. Thanks for looking and please ask questions.Read my feedback and bid with confidence!
