1979 Datsun Z-Series Description:

1979 Datsun 280zx Southern California car since new with only 82,000 miles! First year of the ZX! Motor Trend's Import Car of the Year! SCCA and IMSA champion for Nissan by Bob Sharp Racing and actor Paul Newman! Purchased last summer from the original owner and has been stored since with very limited miles. The original owner was a career Nissan employee.
Desirable two seat, slick top model with factory five speed manual transmission. Red/black exterior with black interior. Red is original paint and still holds a shine well for its age. (Note: The photos aren't great and have a lot of reflection.) Black was added for the 10th Anniversary Edition look. The body is super straight with only a couple of very minor door dings and rock chips up front commensurate with its age. See photos.
Lots of dealer added upgrades and options throughout. Period correct Enkei Hurricane Gold Diamond wheels with security lug nuts. BFGoodrich Radial TA tires with lots of tread. Original space-saver spare, inflator canister, tools and tool pouch, digital clock, owners manual, shop manual, alarm system, original carpet in great shape, new smoked headlight covers (not installed), rare no longer available ZXR-style wing, 280ZX rear light bar, driving/fog lights (not working) and Official 280ZX souvenir book.
Runs and drives great. Sounds great. Regularly serviced by factory trained Nissan/Datsun service technicians at a Nissan/Datsun dealership. The exhaust system has also been redone to eliminate the two stock 90 degree bends...a highly recommended modification. New battery. Recent tune-up. Optional factory AC blows cold.
Dealer added 10th Anniversary trim has faded to a Real Fire look that gets tons of "Wows!" Seriously! Leave it or paint it. The body is straight with great panel fit and no evidence of collision damage. My body shop guy was really impressed. A new gold decal set is included if you want to complete the 10th Anniversary look.
Also includes its original California Blue Plate license plates. 1979 was the last year for the blue plates. These plates were on the car from its original purchase date of January, 1979. Currently licensed in Washington through July, 2017.
The stuff you may or may not want to fix is as follows: Heater has been by-passed, probably due to a bad heater valve. Radio is scratchy. I don't know if the cassette deck works. Seat upholstery appears to have been redone with fabric surfaces and the driver's side seat bolster shows wear. Dash has a couple of minor cracks and the two top dash vents are functional but are cracked and faded. Glove box light is out. Nothing major but this is what I'm aware of. Regardless, it starts and drives smooth and strong.
Too many projects so sadly this must go. Clear WA title in hand. First and second generation Z-cars are really going up in value but for now are still one of the best sports car values around.
