Early Camaros will always be in demand, but in a sea of mediocrity, it's tough to find one as nice as this 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS350. The trick is finding one that's also affordable and usable ($100k trailer queens aren't for everyone), a feat that's much easier said than done. Fortunately, there are still cool cars like this 1967 Camaro coupe out there, a brilliant combination of style and performance at a great value. Take a closer look, because this SS has quickly become a showroom favorite and likely won't last long.
We always like to see flashy, yet not over-the-top colors, and while this one was originally code R Bolero Red (a popular choice, albeit a bit ubiquitous), it's been repainted in something closer Ruby Red Metallic, or even Madeira Maroon Metallic from the '67 Camaro pallet. Colloquially, we can probably call it burgundy without splitting too many hairs, and it always looks great on early Camaros, especially with black 'Bumble-Bee' stripes up front. This F-body is a handsome, straight car with a super paint job that grabs your attention, evidenced by the amount of people that strained their necks when we were pulling this beauty into the showroom. It doesn't appear to have ever been rusty or damaged, and I'd bet lunch that it still carries all its original sheetmetal, simply because of how well it all fits together. The paint job is in excellent order and is probably just about right if you want to drive it; cars nicer than this usually end up in a trailer and that's just no fun. A chin spoiler and a cowl-induction hood were added during the refresh and you can't argue with the high-performance look. Out back there's a proper ducktail spoiler, and all of the 'SS' and '350' are right where they're supposed to be, proudly showing off this dialed-in coupe's pedigree. It's not like anyone won't know what it is, right? All the chrome and stainless is either excellent original or expertly restored, proving a beautifully bright contrast that matches the shiny Cragars at all four corners.
Nothing works better than a black interior in your early Camaro, and this one sports fresh components everywhere you look, with a few thoughtful upgrades as well. The beautiful front seats are covers over the original frames, and the super-clean back seat was re-covered at the same time, so it all has a complete, all-of-a-piece look that practically looks brand new. Fresh door panels, fresh carpets, and a taut headliner also add to the super-clean feeling inside, while a big Hurst shifter with an 8-ball knob for the 4-speed manual underneath delivers shifts that feel like a bolt-action rifle. It's also worth noting that this is a R134a A/C car, with the system backed by modern components so it blows ice cold today. The original gauges were restored and are now augmented by a trio of auxiliary units under the dash, along with a Sun tachometer mounted on the steering column. It's joined by a sporty Grant GT steering wheel that feel amazing in the hands of the driver, and a modern retro-style AM/FM/AUX/Bluetooth radio has been fitted in the original location. Pop the trunk and you'll find tidy reproduction plaid mats on the solid floor, and wrapped around the full-size spare tire.
The engine bay holds a nicely detailed 350 cubic inch V8 motor with proper Chevy Orange paint, a chrome open-element air cleaner, matching Chevrolet valve covers, and a few other dress-up items that really pop out against the gloss-black inner fenders and firewall. For performance, an Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake manifold and 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor, a mild hydraulic cam, a Mallory distributor, and a set of Hooker ceramic-coated long-tube headers were installed, and the engine runs beautifully. Underneath there's a solid, clean chassis, a quick-shifting Muncie M20 4-speed, and a durable 10-bolt rear end with friendly gears inside. That Flowmaster dual exhaust system sounds wicked and turns down just behind the rear wheels as original, so nobody will think twice. Shiny chrome Cragar SS wheels fit great and carry staggered 215/65/16 front and 255/60/16 rear BFGoodrich T/A white-letter radials that accentuate the stance perfectly.
This is an incredibly sharp early Camaro with no needs, in a great color combination, with a hot motor and a 4-speed manual transmission. What could be better? Call today.
