1966 Chevelle SS 138 396 4spd. 12 bolt Super Sport 1967

100000 MILEAGE

1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Description:

Hard to find original SS 138 4 spd. car with a clean title and the original 12 bolt rear. Originally Aztec Bronze with tan vinyl top and fawn bucket seat interior with the cool option of a rear antenna. The body is a solid Utah car with the typical rust in the trunk, lower door jam pillar and top where the vinyl top held the moisture. Overall an amazing starter project. It could use a straight front driver's fender but it could be repaired and the quarter has some damage but just needs a good body man. It shouldn't need a quarter panel replacement and those with experience will tell you that repairing the factory steel is much better than replacing it with the cheap tin replacement panels. The frame is solid. I definitely want the buyer of this car to be completely happy with this purchase so please feel free to call me if you have any questions 385-204-1242.There is some damage to the transmission tunnel and has some tin put over it (not by me) and the bucket seat brackets have been taken out but replacement brackets are made aftermarket. The windshield is actually really nice. From what I can see it does have some pin holes on the top of the dash panel and in the rear window area but these should be able to be repaired and shouldn't need to be replaced but honestly, without removing the trim it's pretty hard to see. I'd be happy to crawl around and under it if you have any pressing concerns. It's not the cleanest car around but definitely not an eastern swamp-ridden rust bucket that needs every panel replaced. Those are a 'no win' situation in my opinion.
Comes with the front bumper and 4sp pedals that are still in the car but obviously the car is missing some parts (steering column, front bucket seats, center 4spd. console, drive line, transmission, radiator, door glass, rear driver's side glass, etc.) all of which are available on ebay or aftermarket. I have worked on and restored chevelle's for a lot of years and this is a truly awesome find. I hate to sell it but I'm trying to downsize by stuff in order to move. And, I still have a 67 SS project in the garage that's my favorite and has to stay. As you know these cars are so hard to find and especially a 4spd bucket seat car with nice colors. The last time I had a 66 SS comparable to this one was back in 1996 or 97 and I've always regretted letting that one go. FYI the "ACC C08" on the trim tag indicates vinyl top. The remnants of the old vinyl top still on the car shows that it was a tan top.
I also have a '66 Impala 396 engine with the correct "961" Block and matched set of "702" Heads dated "J235" for October 23,1965 which wouldn't be too far off for a second week in January built car. The engine is disassembled with a steel crank and will need to be rebuilt (though I think the heads have recently been gone through). The engine is not included in the sale of the car butif desired will be offered to the purchaser of this car for and additional $1000.
Also, if the purchaser of this chevelle doesn't want the original 12 bolt rear for whatever reason (going 9" or something) I happen to need one for my 67 and I'll replace it with a 10 bolt rear for $800 off the purchase price. I was sorely tempted to swap the rearends before listing this car but part of me couldn't go through with it. There's something wrong about steeling parts from an original SS car.
