I mis-typed the engine size on the original post, jumbled the numbers. As you can see from the photos the engine is the original 1964 Chevelle engine which is a 283 ci.
On Jul-31-19 at 18:09:04 PDT, seller added the following information:The original post I was going off of memory on the mileage. I took the car out from storage today and the exact mileage right now is 64,213. I also added two photos from today with the top up.
On Jul-31-19 at 18:59:52 PDT, seller added the following information:I was told today by someone who bought one of these in the 60's that the top could be original. Sometimes the people ordering them changed the color and after the cowl tag was printed. The previous collector swore it was original, looks like it could possibly be? I have a new black one so the option is yours.
On Jul-31-19 at 19:15:34 PDT, seller added the following information:I had a question about under the car. It's low so it will be hard to get any good pictures without a lift but I'll try to get some. It has an original style dual exhaust, but without mufflers. No rust under the car that I can see, very clean. The last two collectors and myself had it covered and garaged in a dry climate in either Idaho, Utah, or Nevada.
On Jul-31-19 at 19:21:36 PDT, seller added the following information:You can look up the value on this car on Hagerty valuation site. It has gone up over 13% over the last 3 years. $32,545 for "Good" condition, and $40,020 for "excellent condition. This car leans toward the latter. I have the reserve set below that range. I've searched these cars and you will be hard-pressed to find one for sale more original than this one.
On Aug-01-19 at 19:45:11 PDT, seller added the following information:I also just realized I mis-typed the engine hp and carb type in the original post. Someone mentioned it to me and they are right. The original engine stickers have 220 hp and it is a 4 bbl carb. Someone replaced the air cleaner decal with the wrong info. I added the pics of the engine decal and the carburetor. That also raises the Hagerty valuation to between $35,120 in "good" condition and $43,240 in "excellent conditon, so my reserve is well below the range. Sorry, I haven't had the car that long. I am a young purist and I search for all original cars, try to make them perfect if need be, show them for a while, get bored, sell them, and start over. I try to learn as much as I can about each car I own. Still learning as I go from potential buyers. Thank you!
On Aug-02-19 at 20:48:40 PDT, seller added the following information:Another question from a watcher today. Yes, it also appears the tag is coded M for a Powerglide. You can see in the photos the stamps on the engine and manual transmission. It is stamped JA, a 1964 283 engine to be paired with a manual 4-speed transmission. The transmission codes also seem to fall in the 1964 range of codes. Not sure if the engine was ever switched, but it does appear to be the correct year for the engine and code to be attached to the correct manual 4 speed for that time period. Please message any other questions and I'll do my best to answer or get a picture.
On Aug-04-19 at 22:03:38 PDT, seller added the following information:Another question today: do all the guages and top work. Yes, as far as I can see everything on the car works fine. There is really nothing left to do to this car. Was also asked if this is a true SS. Yes, you can decode the picture of the cowl tag and see it is a true SS car.
