It has been properly stored in a climate controlled private facility along with his other vehicles. He tells us that it has traveled just over 6,000 miles since it was restored. The Bel Air model was introduced for the 1950 model year and remained at the top of the Chevrolet lineup for many years afterward. It began life as part of the Deluxe Styleline Bel Air series. In 1951, the top of the line, Styleline name was changed to Bel Air. Bel Air bodies were distinguished by wide chrome moldings running from the rear fender bulges to the rear bumper and "Bel Air" scripts. Interiors got more luxurious in 1953 Bel Airs. They were loaded with chrome trim and a steering wheel with chrome horn ring.

First generation Bel Airs were available with 216.5 or 235.5 CID engines mated to either manual or automatic transmission. They were available as 2-door hardtop coupes, 2-door coupes, 2-door convertibles, 4-door sedans and 4-door station wagons.*
