1973 Chevrolet Camaro Description:

1973 Chevrolet Camaro Recent restoration Red exterior with black racing stripes and standard black vinyl interior (code 775) 454 CID V-8 engine with four-barrel carb Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission Power steering and power brakes Rallye sideview mirrors with driver’s side remote control Rear spoiler Documentation includes various parts and restoration receiptsDespite the first Arab Oil Embargo running most of the ponycar class into brick walls and forcing the Ford Mustang into an economy drive after 1973, GM stayed the course with its Camaro and Firebird. This 1973 Camaro Z-28 has been restored and improved since it left the factory.Built during the second week of December 1972 in GM’s Norwood, Ohio factory, this F-body is the beneficiary of a full restoration. Dressed in red with black racing stripes, the car’s paint and trim are in excellent overall condition. The car’s windows are clear and intact while its lights look great. The car’s bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy, the battery appears new and the chrome bumpers are in excellent order. This was the final model year for the quad taillights and non-wraparound rear window. This Camaro rolls on BFGoodrich Radial T/A white letter tires, 235/60R15 in front and 275/60R15 in back. Each tire is mounted on black, five-spoke wheels with bowtie center caps. All wheels and tires are in very good order.Under that counterbalanced hood is a 454 CID big-block V-8 engine with a four-barrel carb. Backing this motor is a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission. Driver convenience features include power steering and power brakes.Open either door to see the standard black vinyl interior (code 775). The front buckets (code A51) and rear demi-buckets are in overall excellent order while the complementing black carpet is in very good condition. The matching headliner looks fantastic and the four-spoke steering wheel donated from the Chevy Vega is in great condition. The instrument panel and inner door liners are in all in excellent shape. The padded dashtop is crack-free. The floor mounted shifter emerges from the driveshaft tunnel and is topped with a white ball. There are three ancillary aftermarket gauges (coolant temp, ammeter, oil pressure) mounted beneath the dash and there’s an AM/FM stereo. The 1973 model year incorporated standard impact-absorbing front bumper system to meet new no-damage standards in five miles per hour NHTSA safety legislation. The Rally Sport option, with its chrome bumperettes on either side of an impact absorbing urethane grill surround, continued for one more year due to creative bracing behind the front sheet metal.A new Type LT model was offered in 1973, with a quieter and better-appointed interior, full instrumentation, Rally-style wheels, variable-ratio steering, sport mirrors, and hidden windshield wipers, among other upgrades. The Super Sport package was dropped, and the big block 396 CID V-8 was no longer available. Power was down due to new emissions standards, with the top-rated 350 CID V-8. The engine was switched from solid-lifters to hydraulic tappets. Air conditioning became available as an option with this engine. The Z-28 option could be ordered on both the sport coupe and LT models. When the Z-28 and Type LT options were combined, the usual Z28 badges, stripes, and graphics were deleted.Other changes included a new console-mounted shifter for automatic transmissions similar to the shifter used in Pontiac Firebirds replacing the Buick-like horseshoe shifter of previous Camaros and the reintroduction of power windows to the option list for the first time since 1969, with the switches mounted in the console.Recovering from the strike, Camaro sales increased to 96,751 units during a record sales year industry-wide.Competition to this Camaro in 1973 was AMC’s Javelin, Dodge’s Challenger, Ford’s Mustang, Mercury’s Cougar, Plymouth’s Barracuda and Pontiac’s Firebird.Documentation includes various parts and restoration receipts.VIN: 1Q87H3N115358This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri.
