In a '66 Corvette ad, Chevrolet referred to the car as 'Flight 427' - to highlight the optional 427ci V8. "Flight 427, now departing through gates 1, 2, 3, and 4." In another ad they mention that; "you swashbucklers just ask, and we'll drop in our new Turbo-Jet 427 under its own high domed hood." Whoever the swashbuckler was that ordered this one asked for the 427! Board 'Flight 427' in this beautiful, red-hot Corvette! This car was originally sold in Texas by Floyd Walker Motor, Co. in January of 1966. It was ordered in Rally Red (Code 974) with black leather interior (Code 402), and a black top. According to the original Order Sheet, the exterior was optioned with Side Dual Exhaust, Auxiliary Hardtop, and Black Soft-top. Knock-off wheels were later added when the restoration was done a number of years ago. Many, many photos documenting the restoration were provided to us by our client. The interior is very nicely restored - the finish shows a high attention to detail. The gauges on the dashboard are clear, the clock works, and the trim is clean and free of the typical scratches that are seen in many C2 Corvettes. Leather bucket seats show very well, and the convertible top is in great condition. Another thing to note in regard to interior options is that this car left the St.Louis Production plant with Air Conditioning (Option 02C60BA) according to the original build sheet. Under the high domed hood is a numbers matching 'IL' Coded 427ci V8, which is currently mated to a non-original 4-speed Muncie M20 manual transmission. However, our client does have the original Muncie M21 that the car was originally optioned with, which is shown on the build sheet as option 02M21AA. This car was also optioned with power brakes, power steering, and a posi-traction 3:55 rear differential. This is an absolutely gorgeous C2 Corvette that has a lot going for it - all sorts of documentation, a detailed frame off restoration, 427 V8 under the hood, knock-off alloy wheels, leather interior, and side pipes.
