1968 Chevrolet Camaro Description:

Calling this car a Camaro is misleading to the point of being nearly incorrect. Oh, It started with a Camaro, all right, but the only pieces remaining are the door frames, roof rails, the front portion of the front fenders, the rear portion of the rear quarters, a piece of what is now the hatchback, and the window glass. The new body is 5-inches wider, 10-inches longer, and has a 3 1/2-inch-longer wheelbase than a factory Camaro. The doors were moved out 1/2 inch to make the glass flush with the top, and the base of the windshield was moved out 2 inches in an effort to be flush with the steel. The rocker panels were narrowed to gain ground clearance. Everything else you see was handformed on an English wheel and painted black. The roof of the car is only 45 inches from the surface of the road. The chassis features a central spine of 2x4x0.083 and 1.75×0.083-inch C1018 mild-steel tubing to provide structural stiffness as well as a path for fluid lines, electrical wiring, and so on. The front and rear subframes were constructed independently of the chassis itself; and mounting brackets for the alternator, power-steering pump, A/C compressor, steering system, control arms, sway bars, shocks and springs, and more were installed while the subframes were constructed on surface plates. The chassis has been twist-tested to 19,000 pounds/degrees between the suspension mounting points and was designed using William C. Mitchell Geometry software to determine mounting locations for steering and suspension components. The bottom of the car is completely flat to reduce turbulence. The engine is where the back seat used to be. The transaxle is out of a '75 Olds Toronado, and rather than try and muck about with hooking a Chevy engine to a B-O-P transmission, Prout kept the Olds 455 as well. Despite adding an Edelbrock intake, Holley carb, custom-made headers, balancing and polishing everything, and an MSD ignition to the proceedings, Prout calls the engine "basically stock." Sheesh! Arrington Racing Engines of Martinsville, Virginia, breathed new life into the big-cube block. You'd think that all those cubes would get awful hot hidden under all that bodywork, and you'd be right. All the reinforcements to keep things chilled: a 33×18-inch three-row copper radiator and two 1,600cfm electric fans keep the block itself running cool, while tranny and engine oil are provided for by twin 9×12-inch coolers located in the rear quarter-panels behind the wheels. The A/C condenser has its own pair of 1,400cfm cooling fans that circulate air through the engine compartment. As for feeding the carburetor, a pair of intake openings in the quarter-panels behind each door feed a plenum chamber between the seats and into the engine compartment. All those fans demand quite an electrical draw: between them, the ignition, et al., the essentials soak up 70 amps at any given time. An Exide battery and a Power Master alternator produce 80 amps at idle and a whopping 140 at speed. The 25-gallon fuel cell is mounted ahead of the firewall. All this... and 4 wheel disk brakes as well!Engine Type:1975 Olds 455, 0.030-inch overbore

This was an older build and car still looks great. It will be on Two Guys garage in August and is not perfect, it has some flaws in the paint although very straight. It runs and drives and is a one of a kind. I have owned this car for a number of years and really have tried to keep it as long as I could. Please feel free to ask any questions prior to bidding.
