Great Barn Find

1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Description:

Took this vehicle in trade in 2012. Closed car business in 2013. Registered this vehicle to myself. Was told on trade that it was a worked 350 with moderate to heavy duty cam, headers, 4 spd transmission, 12 bolt rear, competition clutch. If this is an original 4 spd then very rare car. If not - still a nice conversion. I figure it's not the absolute original transmission cause reverse is in lower left position. I think that is a camaro trans. No, I do not know if it is an original matching engine and do not have any numbers or the capability to find them. I also don't know if mileage is correct at 15,764 - doubt it but who knows.
Multiple vehicles including this Monte were put in an old tobacco barn for storage. Barn was in poor condition and the ice storm in 2015 heavily opened the barn to the outside elements. Poor health on my part left them until 2017 when barn was demolished and they were dragged to a new structure. They were not really touched again until 2 months ago when I hired a mechanic to start getting all the vehicles running so can be sold.
In 2013 the Monte had servos replaced in trans, a new Hurst Competition/Plus Shifter and Linkage Rods and a Autometer Tach and then almost immediately went to storage and not seen the light of day till a couple of months ago. The mechanic did an oil change, new starter, new fuel pump and fuel hoses, replaced the gas, took carb off for cleaning and went thru it, new battery and car started right up.It runs like a beast and probably is a drag or street racers dream. It probably needs a new oil pan gasket - slight leak and a trans fluid change due to sitting so long.
Interior - seats, door panels, rugs are great. Top of dash have couple of cracks. Power windows in this muscle car.
Exterior - It has about a 15 - 20 year old restoration that really showed no damage till left in barn and the elements. There is bubbling in the front drop or curve down of hood and where the roof meets the rear quarters- see pictures. Paint or clear coat is cracking in areas. No real rust that I can determine. Pictures look good of rest of car but it is a 20 footer.
It runs but will have to be towed from my property. Obviously it sat a long time and still needs tweaking to go on a 1000 mile trip. Tires look great but probably are 10 years plus old. Brakes feel good but have not been gone thru. You can test drive across my fields or on my half mile driveway but not the street.
