This is truly "grandmas car" - she drove it out from IL in the '60s. When she couldn't drive any longer she put it under a car cover for nearly 10 years.I named the car "Ms. Daisy" after I spent over a year fighting with her. I was going to put a crate 350 in her - but decided that for 60 years she ran her 235 ci and 3 speed and I shouldn't change anything major. It's a rare Bel Air - which is top of the line back then and unusual to find a six with a three speed.I have had the car for over 10 years and have retired and downsizing. (have 4 other drivers). Everything has been rebuilt - the total mileage is 110,000. One look at the underside and I had to buy it. No rust, perfect floors no aftermarket body parts. Engine starts with half a turn, never burns oil (I change it every 2,000 miles) no leaks, no clutch chatter (new clutch too) Put a new windshield in her -there was a stone chip right in front of my eye.Car is on the cover of my latest book "Cruisin" Route 66" (available on Amazon and elsewhere) All body panels are original and straight as an arrow.I put the Continental Kit on her to make her look longer. Didn't like the typical add-ons (that rattle like hell hanging off the back bumper) Bought a OEM optional Ford Coronado Kit from Canada and had it fitted and designed to be a CONVERTIBLE and REMOVABLE without damage to the trunk lid. Had a bracket made to fit the emblem holes. It looks better than it ever did on a Ford! Takes ten minutes to take it off. (why?)While it will go 70 + mph on freeways it really needs a more friendly rear -say around 290 gears for easy freeway driving.
