1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS Description:

Selling my beautifully restored or really restomoded 1991 Camaro RS convertible. This was a labor of love of mine. I love this body style Camaro but the lame engines of that era just had to go. I have owned the car for right at 20 years. I put a vortec 350 in it first but later I did go LT1 rather than a LS1-LS3 as it was about $2k cheaper to build a strong LT1 than the LS engines at the same power level. Also this is not a daily driver car. This car stays in the garage and only goes out for enjoyment and I have barely run it 1000 miles per year. It has looked like this for the last 10 years or so. I really would like the car to go to a home where it can sit in garage and get babied like it has been. I will be moving soon and not going to have a place for it like it has now so I would rather sell it than ruin it.
speedo shows 148k miles but none of the drivetrain is original. the lame 170hp 305 TBI motor has long been gone. currently has a 435hp 385ci (.040 bore) LT1 with advanced induction CNC ported heads and a mild LT4 hot cam with 218/228 duration for good streetability. comp cams chromoly 1.6 full roller rockers. racetronix 42lb/hr injectors, 58mm throttle body and aftermarket mass air ends. engine was installed at 135k miles and transmission was built with engine but the first year that transmission broke twice and shop repaired it and its been reliable for several years now. It has every aftermarket component available for that transmission installed. The rearend is from a 2001 LS1 Camaro with 3.23 gears and factory limited slip. I rebuilt and painted the rear calipers and replaced the stock rotors with 12" drilled and slotted rotor. the front has a new 13" baer brake kit on the front all to replace the original 10.5" front rotors and 10" rear drum brakes this car came with. those were fine with only 170hp but not with 435hp. I only put about 1000-1500 miles a year on the car. it only sits in the garage collecting dust which is why I am selling it. I put less than 500 miles on it last year. interior was completely redone. under the new carpet, I laid .080" dynamat on floor as well as in the trunk area as the 4" mandrel bent single exhaust setup was rather loud inside the car. the dash pad, is a completely new unit from ricks camaro and a $500 piece but when I have this much money tied up in a car that original dash pad was unacceptable and the cheap dash cap looked awful. this piece looks just like original but all new. the black paint is a 9.8 out of 10. I am very critical of paint and black is very non forgiving but this car is STUNNING. Under the hood could use a little detailing but i never intended car to be strictly show vehicle but a fun driver. But a little work and its definitely show worthy car. the wheels are obviously chrome aftermarket ZR1 Corvette wheels. 17x9 front and 17x11 rears with 275/45ZR17 up front and 315/35R17 in rear and the torque that 383 makes it easily can spin those 315 wide tires on the back. under the car, I have welded in alston subframe connectors and it has spohn lower control arms on rear and a adjustable panhard rod which I used to perfectly center that rear end as it had to be perfect for the tires not to rub. I replaced the original steering box with the quick ratio W code Iroc steering box and the iroc wonderbar. rear swaybar is the stock LS1 rear swaybar.
If you like this body style camaro, this one is extremely nice. I like these cars and so when building one for myself. I spared no expense. I did most of the work on this car and still I have just shy of $30k in it which I know I will never get so I am asking a more reasonable 20k. I have seen a lot of thirdgen camaros on ebay in this price range that werent nearly as well setup as this car. I have owned this car close to 20 years and its looked like this about 1/2 that time. Its currently insured through statefarm as custom vehicle for that $20k as they agreed that was fair market value. I may take a little less for it but I am not going to give it away either.
For those that live in the rust belt of America, This car has never had ANY rust of any kind on it. even for a southern car it is in very nice rust free condition as it sits in the garage and only goes out in nice weather.
