Notes:

Square body Chevy trucks have always been a favorite of mine ever since my eldest brother’s friend Mark came over to the house in the early 80’s with a black 454 powered shorty that just SCREAMED Hot Rod to my impressionable young teen mind. Ever since, I have personally owned at least a half-dozen, and bought and sold another 20 or so over the decades at the store. They have a look and style that I love, and I am really happy to offer this super clean 1983 C-10 to you today.

“Silver Shadow”, as we affectionately call her around the shop, was the result of a father/son restoration project started about 3 years ago by the folks I bought the truck from.

They bought it in pieces from a family friend who had disassembled it in early 2002 in the hopes of restoring it, but time and money soon put that idea on the backburner, and it sat in boxes in the garage until the day they pulled it out.

After everything was inspected and kept or tossed in favor of new components, it was all inventoried, and the task of rebuilding the truck was started.

The body was all original, solid, and rust free, and the panels and cab were all separate from the frame, so they started with the chassis, and completely stripped, cleaned, and started putting it back together.

Stock rails, stock suspension, upgraded shocks, and a Reese style box hitch were installed, along with a freshened 12 bolt GM rear end with drum brakes, and all new suspension bits.

Upfront, the disc brakes were freshened up, along with all the suspension bits.

While not something you would put over mirrors at a car show, the chassis IS clean, rust/rot free, and shows to be nice, bare metal, not gooped up undercoat spray or line-x trying to cover up who knows what.

The stock 305 V8 motor was available, but was set aside for a block up rebuild on a 350ci V8 to give it a little more oomph. It’s a pretty stock build, but is dressed up with just the right amount of chrome and shiny stuff to make you smile when you open it.

Engine bay itself is clean and neat, with all wiring, lines and things neatly arranged.

We gave it a full going-over and checked for fluid leaks & weeps, checked all the fluids, checked the radiator and coolant, and had the legendary John Murray stop by to adjust the carb.

It starts with a press of the gas and turn of the key, and the electric choke keeps things running perfectly until it warms up.

Idle is clean and smooth, and the truck has a nice mellow rumble coming from the headers that feed into a true dual exhaust system with polished Pilot Motorsports exhaust tips.

Snick the automatic transmission into DRIVE and you’re ready to roll. The truck performs PERFECTLY. It drives so nicely, you will forget you are in a classic pickup. Power is strong and steady throughout, with no stumbling or stuttering, and it has enough oomph to smoke the rear tires too should you want to partake in shenanigans.

It shifts smoothly and cleanly through each gear, and cruises like a champ to the next block or the next town.

Ride is exceptional, and it absorbs bumps with no rattles or noises, while maintaining a solid composure when cornering too.

Power brakes work so good it takes a second to get used to them! They will stop the truck in a hurry, so make sure you want to stop before you lay into them!

I have personally put just over 350 miles on the truck since I got it, and I keep finding myself driving it on errands, to cruise nights, and anywhere I need to go! It really does drive so exceptionally nice that you’ll want to make it your daily!

It doesn’t EVER do anything wrong, has never left me stranded, doesn’t run hot, and works exactly like it should. Heck, if it picked up a bar tab every once and awhile I’d probably keep it!

Shut the hood, and you can take in the solid Southern Steel body that is cleaner than a Winn-Dixie chicken.

Cab corners, door bottoms, dog legs, cowl panel…. All of it is straight, clean, original GM steel and it looks fantastic! Go ahead and bring a magnet, because I took a 4 inch square felt covered one to every single panel and it stuck like glue. NO mud, NO chicken wire, NO beer cans crushed up and bondo’d in, JUST SOLID REAL STEEL! Even the factory pinch welds on the cab are still intact!!!!

When it came to pick a color, the choice was easy…GM Cyber Gray to match the families Camaro SS was picked, and professionally sprayed on the truck in Tampa. It is a sweet looking color on the truck, and really helps catch what few angles a square body has and lend some depth to it.

The finish is super glossy, wet, and clean looking, and even though it has been driven about 5,000 miles since it was completed in 2015, it still shows only a handful of tiny little marks and blemishes from normal use like a stone chip, tiny scuff, or other small mark. Take a look at the 100 EXTRA LARGE pictures of it, and you will see that it really looks amazing no matter what part of the truck you stare at.

Glass on the truck is in great condition, with no chips, cracks, or laminate issues.

Rubber seals and weather stripping is only a few years old, and is soft and pliable thanks to indoor storage.

The bed rails are covered in polished aluminum bed rails which give a clean look and are easily removable since they installed with 3M tape.

Bed itself is clean, solid, and rust free thanks to a Rhino-Liner coating that was applied years ago, and left on when the rebuild of the truck was started.

Tail gate opens and closes as it should, and there is no sign of any rust, rot, or damage to it.

Front and rear chrome bumpers are shiny and bright, and just a mark or two shy of perfect, and we left the mirrored CHEVY emblem front license place intact for the new owners too.

SILVERADO emblems, mirrors, door handles, gutter trim, and hood ornament all shows shiny and clean as well.

A phantom grill was installed on the truck, and gets more comments from people at shows and cruises because they remember back when EVERY custom had one of them! IT looks shiny and clean, and is quite the conversation starter wherever you take the truck.

The truck rides on color-matched RALLEYE wheels with slightly aged center caps and clean and shiny trim rings. They are wrapped in BF GOODRICH RWL Radial T/A tires sized P275/60R15 at all four corners with only about 5,000 miles on them, and a least 80% of the useable tread life remaining.

Everyone kept telling me to slam the truck, or air ride it, and I said, NO! There are so few clean regular short bed square bodies available, I would let the new owner decide to keep it clean and stock, or drop it.

As it sits, I think the truck has a fantastic stance, and looks great.

Crack open a door and you will find a stock, clean interior with just enough touches to make it unique.

The large full length bench seat has a heavy ultra-leather cover over it that shows new, with no sign of damage or disrepair.

Carpeting runs from the firewall all the way up the back wall to just under the rear window. It was installed new over sound and heat proofing when the rebuild was done, and still shows to be in clean, damage free condition today.

Door panels are stock, and combine carpeting and vinyl to make a great looking finished inner door, complete with map pockets on each side. Power window and door lock switches work as they should on both sides of the truck.

All of the pillar panels and kick panels are factory correct and show wonderfully, and the kick and rear panels get SONY XpLOD speakers installed for a great sound.

Headliner is in great shape, as are the two sun visors.

A billet gauge panel surrounds the full array of factory gauges to monitor SPEED, FUEL, OIL PRESSURE, WATER TEMP, and a CLOCK. They are all in function working order.

Odometer shows 39059, but the title shows EXEMPT for mileage after the rebuild was done, so I have no idea how many actual miles are on the truck.

Tilt column is clean and works as it should, as it the steering wheel that tops it.

Turn signals work, headlights work, high beams work, hazards work, and parking lamps work. The cruise control does NOT work at this time.

Factory heating and air conditioning works like it should, and the air is R134A and blows extremely cold.

The radio is a Pioneer AM/FM/CD and it sounds great out of the Sony speakers mentioned earlier.

This truck is a SUPER CLEAN, exceptionally well done rebuilt square body, and I personally would not be afraid to drive it anywhere. I have tooled it around town, taken it to Punta Gorda for a show, drove it down to Naples for a cruise night, and just had a blast with it. I think you will too.

Since they purchased the truck as unfinished parts, they took it to the Florida DMV office in Palmetto for a safety inspection and were issued a title with exempt miles and rebuilt statement from the DMV.

I think that is about all I can tell you about it, but if you have questions PLEASE CALL ME at 941-286-0889!!! I don’t get onto eBay to read messages but once a day, but my phone is ALWAYS with me.
