1946 Chevrolet 1-Ton Dually Rat RodI'm listing my dads Rat Rod Dually up for sale. It gets tons of attention, its easy to drive with power steering and power brakes and a comfortable bench seat not normally found in a rat. We started with just a cab from a 1946 Series 3600 (3/4 ton), and nothing else.... using a 1989 Chevy 1-ton dually as a donor we removed all the '89 body and started working the frame. The engine and transmission were pulled, the 350 was taken apart and checked and resealed. A Lunati Voodoo camshaft was installed, and a Pete Jackson Gear drive set as well. The TH400 transmission was sent to a transmission shop, checked for wear and resealed and a 2200 stall converter installed.
The Frame was shortened 36", and an 11" Z was cut into the frame to get the low stance you see.... all the welds were professionally done and reinforced to be stronger than factory. All unnecessary brackets were removed from the frame, it was cleaned and painted with POR15 coating. There is a custom 4-Link rear suspension to hold the huge 14-bolt rearend, and adjustable airbag suspension for ride height.
The front sheetmetal, running boards, and headlights are from a 1935 Chevy 1.5 ton flatbed worktruck. The interior uses as much of the '89 as possible, and theres little pieces of the '35 here and there on it. 15 gallon Keg is used for a fuel tank.
